The switch is on the drivers side of the transmission where the shift linkages are.

I have a 91 f350 7.3 liter idi. It will not start

cranks ok , and fast?
after checking all fuses. (the FSM shows correct fuse)

International Harvester IDI (from Indirect Injection) engine is a 4-stroke 8-cylinder Diesel engine used in International Harvester trucks,
like all diesels check fuel filters first. (service)
then make sure glow plugs work. (fsm covers this)
then scan it EFI for DTC errors. got errors?
direct injection uses EFI.

IF DIY, you need the book, I promise.....
its not simple like old diesels were.

I have a 91 F350 IDI would I be able to do a diagnostics test on it? An if I am what all does the diagnostics test cover. Will it show u what's wrong with the engine and tranny?

You can buy a scanner and hook up to the computer on the truck. Or you can jumper a plug in the engine compartment and make the check engine light flash the trouble codes. You can look online for the procedure and the definition of the codes.
I doubt you will get much info about the transmission since transmission control did not become the computer's job until later in the 1990s.

Where is the fuel shut off switch located on a 91 isuzu rodeo v6

This vehicle does NOT have a fuel intertia cutoff switch like Ford vehicles. As a safety shutoff, it uses the oil pressure switch. If the engine stops and loses oil pressure, the oilpressure switch cuts off the fuel pump power. There is NO reset on this vehicle

My car will not run or starts and will not take the gas when it rains or damp outside. when it sets a day or two then runs great. What can it be. I was told it can be a module. Which one. yes 1996...

If your car is equipped with a 2.4L Quad 4 engine, you most likely need to replace your ignition coils. They are located inside what is called the "IDI Module" This is the large cover on the top of the engine that says "Quad 4". The ignition coil housing and spark plug boots should also be replaced. (See pictures below)

To replace the coils, disconnect the IDI electrical connector (Driver's side of the IDI Module) Remove the 4 bolts retaining the IDI Module to the cylinder head.

NOTE: be careful not to loose the washers under the bolts. Sometimes they will stick to the IDI Module and will fall off when you remove it. It is best to take a small screwdriver and get them loose before they have a chance of getting lost. Trust me...It happens all the time.

Remove the IDI Module from the cylinder head and flip it over. Remove the 4 screws holding the coil housing to the IDI module and remove the housing. Remove the screws holding the ignition coils and remove the coils. Reverse procedure to install.

which diesel eng does the truck have? If its the powerstroke it is located on the firewall, if it is the non-powerstroke(IDI) engine it does not have one as the fuel pump is mechanical.

My 91 accord had the same problem. There is an electric lock out solenoid under the shift console cover. Remove a couple screws on shifter cover and you will see it. I just bent the tab that contacts the shifter instead of replacing it. Done deal.
