Question about 1994 Toyota Corolla

2 Answers

Is the 1994 Corolla water pump driven by the timing belt? It not, another belt? The local garage wants $400 to replace this $45 part, which seems excessive. I've done this type of work, but not the timing. Thanks

What engine and submodel? When I looked over the 1.8L engine version for two submodels, the timing belt was not drives the water pump.

However, it is probably a good idea to change the timing belt every 80,000 mi or 100,000 mi.

Is santa fe 2009 water pump driven by timing belt? should water pump be replaced when timing belt is replaced? If water pump leaks will it destroy the valves?

whether it is driven by the belt depends on which motor you have in it, but it seems to me that yours probably is. standard practice is to replace the pump at the same time you replace the timing belt if it is indeed driven by the timing belt, and no, you will not harm your valves if your water pump is leaking, but if the water pump bearing fails and the belt shifts position then you will almost definitely bend your valves.

im sorry to tell you,but pulleys on water-pumps do not get RE-PLACED! if they're LEAKING from th weeping HOLE,which is too the side of the pulley, then that means the RUBBER-SEAL went out, which is behind th pulley,on the inside, this indicates that its time for a BRAND-NEW-WATER-PUMP...

I need to know how to change a water pump on a 1994 ford escort

Step by step instructions can be found in a Haynes or Chiltons manual availiable from your local parts store (Autozone) too much info for this forum. The water pump is timing belt driven, the timing belt will have to be removed to change the pump. If you are not comfortable with this level of repair, I suggest your local repair shop. Hope this helps.

How do i change the water pump on my 1996 toyota corolla

The water pump is driven by the timing belt. You should plan to replace the belt while you are in there. Below is a picture that shows the pump. and a link to show the steps.

This link I got from another sight. "Go to http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ sign up and put in your year, make and model and under repair guides click on engine/engine overhaul and on the left hand side you will see water pump click on that, there you will find complete diagrams" From http://repairpal.com/how-to-replace-water-pump-on-1996-toyota-corolla-512

Need to replace water pump on 94 Plymouth Acclaim

Your water pump is driven by your timing belt which should be changed at same time unless it was done recently. If your still thinking of doing it, stop in at local parts store for info on what's involved, parts prices etc., and decide from there. I believe some even give you a step by step print out now too.

Change water pump in 1996 Isuzu Oasis

The Isuzu has a timing pump driven water pump, so if the timing belt is due to be replaced, both jobs are normally done at the same time along with replacing the timing belt tensioner pulley. It'a an "interference" type engine that bends the valves if the belt breaks and ruins the engine. The reason the shops want $700 is because they're doing a complete timing belt replacement to get to the water pump.
