When I put the car in drive it won't move until the rpm reach 5000

Probably a shift solenoid. I would get the transmission diagnosed now before it turns into something major.

2006 explorer just won't shift out of first even if I'm at 5000 rpm

Try it on Manuel shifting, if no response, you will have two possible options; check the Transmission Fluid, if it's fine, the last option would be checking the Transmission it self. This could be done by proffissional Mechanics.

Can i shift the gear immediately while climbing on a high roads from high speed to low speed on a automatic transmission 1996 honda civic vti vtec? Do i need to brake first the engine before i will shift...

That is not recommended, as it could cause transmission damage. Since you have a VTEC you should get a power boost at around 5000 rpm which should make climbing hills easier and not need a shift of the transmission.

My 1991 240sx is at my local mechanics shop. He is getting abnormal transmission pressure readings and has not been able to diagnose the problem or has not tried hard enough. The care does not shift into...

The 240sx auto transmission will not shift from 1st to 2nd until going about 25 mph with gentle throttle (35mph with full throttle). I do not recall what engine RPM this corresponds to, but i know it always seemed high.

As for the hard shift two second, there is rectangular module that is inside the driver side fender next to the ignition coil that is sometimes unplugged to get a more "sporty" feel out of the automatic transmission. Check that plug and if it is unplugged, plug it back in.

This is the typical transmission failure on these. You need a rebuild. The 3/4 gears clutches are burnt up.

High rpm when shifting on third gear

this car's Transmission is based off of a vacuum lines leading into it. check to see if all the vacuum lines are all still attached for the transmission and engine. If any are found to be off...find out their proper loaction and see if the problem goes away. if none are found to be off then look into cracks or damage to them.(i would replace ALL of them since those hoses are inexpensive). Then find out when the transmission fluid and filter was changed in your car....since its 18 years old. Hope this helps.

Sounds like your trans is stuck in limp in mode. Could be something simple as a sensor, or something major as the trans or the computer. Will need to be computer diagnosed.
