You have to disconnect the brown wire thats on the firewall. It disables the computer controlled advance and allows you to set the base timing. Disconnect SET TIMING connector (tan/black wire) located in harness close to distributor. DO NOT disconnect 4 wire connector at distributor.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck, set timing is O".

Color coded wiring diagram 1995 gmc sierra electric windows

Google the
wiring diagram 1995 gmc sierra electric windows I found several systems offering what you require.
But what is the problem, 99% of the time in that year the window regulator was at fault, it was made from a stapped steel housing verses an cast unit. We check the left switch for power, disconnect the two wire connector at the motor, and see if the motor has power to one side or the other in the connector. If the switch has power to it, and the motor has power to it as you press the button, the motor is at fault.

Good luck.

Timing, 89 GMC Ignition timing connector. I disconnected my timing bypass connector. to time my truck. Set Timing to 4 degrees btdc. When I reconnected my bypass connector the mark on my damper should...

set it at 12 degrees btdc where it should be
If it has electronic timing it will advance /retard from that point and not as you expect to go to the correct setting

Which way should the distrubutor point in a 89 gmc truck

If you line up the timing marks on the crank pulley, you have a 50/50 chance of the number one cylinder being at top dead center. If it is, the rotor points to the number one plug wire.

How to change out a ignition switch

First remove plastic column cover, and possibly plastic panel just below that. may be star wrench or regular Phillips.

When you get the panels off you will see two bolts holding the ignition switch in and a harness running down the column. I've never done a 94 specifically so I cannot tell you how long this harness is. I've seen them 10 inches long, and some 2 feet long.

It will be zip tied tight up agents the column.

Fallow the harness to the connector. Disconnect connector. Cut zip ties holding harness in place BE CAREFUL DO NOT CUT ANY WIRES!! ONLY ZIP TIES.

Unbolt bots holding ignition switch cylinder in place, and install new one. May wan to get connector grease for the connector to keep moisture ect out.

Oh, and remember to roll window down and disconnect battery before doing anything.

Good luck

If all your other gauges work, more than likely you have a bad sending unit in the gas tank or bad ground to the sending unit.

Looking for ignition switch in 93 gmc sierra

Tword the bottom of the steering colume. It will have a couple of connectors going to it and a couple of rods going to it from the igniton cylinder. IT is on top and not easy to get the bolts out of it. You will need to remove the close out pannel to even be able to see it.
