I have a 1998 lexus es 300.my check engine light is on and just today the trac light came on.often when im driving mainly after getting off the highway the car will begin to shake.if I'm sitting @ a light with my foot on the brake the car will shake and the speedometer will rev up on its own.but this doesn't happen all the time

i dont think it would be the computer did you check the fuses if its not the fuses follow the battery cables see if theres a relay on one of the cables or if your ground is bad

I had check engine light and TRAC OFF. OBD-II MIL code was P1133 which is Air Fuel Ratio Sensor Response Malfunction and scanned by AutoZone. After disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes, the lights went off. I cleaned the gas cap and tightened it firmly. For the last 400 miles, the lights have not come back. When scanning using Snap-on one, no code was detected. I think gas cap was the reason for the lights.

Both of your leaks are most likely minor problems, but will leave a mess in your driveway. If Oil is pouring out of the engine, then you need to get them repaired. The most important thing you can do is religiously check your oil level. Any auto parts store will scan your codes and tell you what code is tripped.

A week ago, on my Lexus ES 300 (2001), "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights came on. This coincided with me filling the gas tank to the brim to round the dollar to be paid. I cleaned the gas tank cap and the tank opening. However, both lights persisted. On the same day, when I turned on the car again, there was a hesitance, a stuttering to come on. Both "Check Engine" and "Trac Off" lights were still on.

The next day, the car wouldn't come on at all. It sounded as the battery was dead. I couldn't even jump start the car. So, I got a new battery from Costco ($59) and put it in. It took 15-20 seconds of cranking to get the car started. Once it was started, the engine sounded fine and the RPM normal. The "Check Engine" light was off. However, the "Trac Off" was still on. I cleaned the gas tank cap one more time.

The next morning, when I turned the car on, there was no problems. It came on instantly as it used to be, didn't have any warning lights, and drove smoothly.

try to reset this problem , disconnect the negative battery terminal few minutes and reconnect , start the engine

well, the first to do is an oil service to your car, after disconnect the negative battery terminal few minutes to reset

Variable Valve Timing , is an engine feature but is not a problem

Unscrew the gas cap, wait 30 sec and screw it back on making 3 clicks/cracks. Should be ok in a day or two.
