Automatic transmission, I assume, check the fluid level, as if it gets low, the transmission will slip. If that is not the problem, look in your owners manual th see where the transmission control module is located and you may need to take it to a garage to have it tested.

Transmission shifts hard


You don't give me much information to work with. However, 1st, look at the engine mounts. You may have a broken mount. This will make it feel like the transmission is shifting hard. Other than that, there is only a few things that will cause this. The speed sensor tells the computer when to shift the shift solenoids. It may not be "seeing" a quality signal. If this is the case, the speedometer will be bouncing too. Last idea is that it is skipping a gear. Starts in 1st, should go to 2nd at about 10 MPH. 3rd at 25 to 30 MPH. And, if you have a Overdrive transmission, it should go into overdrive at around 45 to 55 MPH. If it is skipping 2nd, it will engage 3rd at a high engine speed, and will feel like a sudden slam into gear. If this is true, your transmission needs some work. Hope this all helps. Good Luck.

dont shift , impliese but fails to say, by whom.???
on mine a 5speed manual stick, it can't shift by many a way.
ill take a wild guess and its an A/T

it stuck in 1st gear.
or did you mean its slipping , and feels like in neutral at all times.
or skips gears?

during these early transitional years, they had 2 transmissions
the newer one is electrically shifted.
and going farther we need to know what trans is really truely there.
we are blind here and cant see what you have.
if your car is a TCM shifted tranny (TCM is tranny brain,puter)
it has scan codes. so dump the tcm error codes.

Automatic gear problems


name them there are a 50 A/T tranny standard symptoms.
name what works and what dont.
slips. (flare)
late shifts
early shifts.
skips gears, say 1 to 3rd?
down shifts wrong, early late or not at all.
only shifts hot or cold.
passing gear fails
down shifts on hills fails.
or? name it.

the FSM covers the 50 ways to fail (chart)
and the cures. and tests.

Do you mean upshifting starts way early? Going from 2nd to 3rd in other words?
Ireally don't know your transmission,but the alternator problem might've possibly spiked and hurt your shifting solenoids in the ******. don-ohio (:^)

Kia sedona 2005 when driving feels like transmission is skipping, hesitating. What is doing on? Just had new transmission put in 7 months ago.


When does it skip and hesitate? While your driving or taking off or turning a corner?

It sounds like an automatic.

Transmission skips 3rd gear then gears down into proper gear


no transmission stated, of the 5 possible that year.
find another shop, find ASE rated shop
no DTC, no joy here, why post with the key fact missing?
vague, sure, P0700, is the common vague (means see DTCs from TCM )
that code means your lame shop has a TOY grade scanner
that can't scan all jeep codes, see all TCM errors.
the shop manual lists them all.
its free to read.

x2 grounds.
x2 service it , full flush.
x2, scan it right this time,,,

BTW
some TCM skip gears in LIMP-IN mode.
in failure mode, you need to fully scan the
TCM. it could be valve body, or, TCM doing it on purpose because VSS is funky or other inputs to the TCM are wrong.
if you dont learn all TCM errors, you will never know ,will you?
