SOURCE: spark plugs

You probably have a 2.4 ltr? If so , then you have to remove the head cover that covers the head and spark plugs. locate the aluminum cover ontop of the engine that is held down with 4 bolts that have a molded rubber insulator/washer under them. The cover is aprox. 18" long. They should be 13mm bolts. Unplug the connector at the drivers side end of the cover assy.-remove the connector release lock if needed. Lift and remove the cover to expose the plugs and the short/stubby plug wires. Yes those boots are plug wires. Now remove the boots if they didn't stay on the cover when you removed it. Just snap the boots back onto the cover before reinstalling the cover. It's not a bad job but do it when the engine is cold so the plugs come out with out taking the threads with them.
good luck - scott

Where are the spark plugs located?

If this is a four cylinder you will need to remove the plastic cover from over the valve cover, you will then find the spark plugs located deep inside the head on top. If this is a 6 cylinder the spark plugs are located in between the gaps in the exhaust manifold.

Misfiring while driving

Check the spark plugs, make sure they all seated and are tight. Also change wires. Probably the coil packs, but check the cheaper stuff first.

CAREFULLY FOLLOW A 'PLUGWIRE' FROM THE DISTRIBUTOR CAP TO THE PLUG. tHE 'CAP IS ROUND AND USUALLY LOCATED NEAR THE TOP 0F THE MOTOR. WHEN REMOVING THE PLUG BE CAREFUL NOT TO YANK, PULL, OR TWIST THE WIRE. MAKE CERTAIN THAT THE ENGINE IS COOL!!!!!!
