Question about Toyota Camry

1 Answer

I have a 2009 camry and the lights/gauages on the cluster aren't working, except the engine light, oil light, and flasher. The CD/AUX isn't working either. No lights are working on the dashboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My right rear turnsignal has stopped working...the front still works, but flashes faster than normal, indicating a bad bulb...I've replaced both right side rear bulbs with no change...I've checked...

It's almost certainly a wiring issue. Very likely, the ground (-) connection for the tail light has severed or is not making good contact with the chassis. Look for a black wire running from the tail light housing to a screw or bolt on the chassis. You will find that the wire has either become severed, is loose, or is simply not making a good connection. A little WD-40 (penetrating oil) on the screw or bolt where the wire connects will assure that corrosion isn't the issue.

Hope that's helpful!!

Gas gauage, temp.& oil gauage quit working..now what

Well you have a car that is worth at best 500 dollars, with a working instrument cluster and gauges it is still worth 500 dollars. How much are you going to spend to fix it? Not much. Look on eBay and craigslist for someone selling a 91 voyager off part by part and buy a replacement cluster for 10 bucks.
Junkyards, aka auto recyclers, also sell old car parts, look in the phone book and call around and ask if they have one of those sitting in their lot. Go buy the part and look around for someone who can replace yours with the one you bought. Would not hurt to buy a 5 dollar CD repair manual on eBay and see how difficult it is to pull the cluster out yourself, could be something is disconnected that you could see and fix yourself. Every part on every car ever made is going to fail due to age or use, yours has already made it 10 years past its design lifetime.

Where is the oil filter located on 2010 camy?

The oil filters on the 2010 Camry product are no longher 'spin-on' filters. The new style of filter being used are the 'cartridge' type. The filter is in an aluminum cylinder, under the engine. Toyota recommends the use of a special tool to remove the cartridge cylinder. Also note that you need to use the exact oil specified for your car. If you do not, your variable valve timing will not work properly, and you check engine light will come on. If the car specifies to use full-synthetic, you should not use anything else.

Resetting the check engine light

On my 2006 you set the odometer to the normal odometer mode using the button on the dash. When you get that setting, hold the button down until the display flashes. Once it begins to flash, let go of the button and then push it again. The light should then go out.
