Hi.how many teeth does an opel vita 1.4l have on the timing belt.it has twin-cam and 16valves.i tried to fit a 162 tooth belt but its short

I just googled your question and there is a suggestion of 169 teeth required on at least a few of those models.

The twin cam models have a fairly wide belt which can seem short to the uninitiated and they can be a struggle to fit. If your 162 tooth belt nearly fits then perhaps you aren't trying hard enough.

If the 162 tooth belt is short by a long way then maybe you need 169.

The best way to be sure is count the teeth on the original belt.

Took the old belt in to measure and this new one seems to be about an inch to short. How do I stretch it to fit or is it wrong size all together?

You can't strech the belt, slacken the adjuster, fit the belt & re adjust. If it still doesn't fit, the belt is the wrong size

The pistons are hitting the valves due to wrong alignment of timing gears and the timing belt. Align the timing gears and timing belt marks according to the following diagrams.

Noise after fitting cam belt

When you refitted the belt, was there a spacer ring refitted correctly?
Also, check for any sprocket key was fitted correctly and that the crankshaft pulley bolt was refitted correctly and was tightened properly.
There's also the slight possibility that the plastic casings weren't fitted flush and are being scraped by the pulleys or belt.

How do I replace a Serpentine Belt on a 1994 E420?

The tensioner will keep the belt tight without having to adjust. It's on a spring loaded type arm. The tensioner is on a arm, if you look at the center of the roller you will see either a 1/2" hole or it could be a allen type wrench hole. You will need to fit a ratchet into the hole or an allen wrench with a pull handle for better leverage. Once you have this inserted into the hole, you will either push or pull slightly to compress the spring which will give you room to fit the belt over the last pulley. Once this is done the tensioner will automatically tighten the belt once you release the pull handle. You are set and ready to go

Loosen the adjustment bolt on the alternator, remove old belt, fit new one and stretch it slightly with the adjustment of the alternator until you have 2mm of deflection. Tighten up the bolt and take her for a run to charge the battery properly.

Cant get my serpentine belt back on my 98 deville

Is the belt not fitting properly because of it is too long or too short or is something getting in the way? It must be routed in the proper order. I believe that most cadillacs require the belt to be routed leaving the alternator pulley for last. A long 3/8" drive breaker bar should fit in the center of the tensioner. When you have everything lined up, pry the breaker bar slowly while keeping tension on the belt by pulling the belt onto the alternator pulley. Once it seats, slowly add tension back to the belt stopping every few inches to check the alignment. I hope that is helpful but I have not worked on a caddy in a few years.

It appears that either the new tensioner or some other pulley is NOT lined up properly. Check to make sure all pulleys are in alignment.

Serpentine belt won't fit

yes the cold temps will shrink the belt. But usually there is enough extra to work with......If you are sure the belt is routed properly (and it's easy to mess it up I've been doing this kinda stuff for 25 years and i still get it wrong sometimes) You can try to heat the belt in the house, put it near a heater or soak it in really hot water and try to get it on fast enough that it will stay slightly stretched for long enough. other than that I would inquire at your local part store about a slightly longer one or maybe your belt came in the wrong package and is too short for your vehicle
Good luck and thanks for choosing FIX YA!
