Question about Chrysler Sebring

1 Answer

I have a 2006 Sebring 2.7 L V6 with 75500 miles. For the last few weeks, a few things have been going on. First, AT TIMES, when I start the car, it will have a rough start in the morning and shake a bit. This shaking will stop after a few minutes. Sometimes, in the morning, it will act as if it wants to stall. Oddly, if it is later in the day and I try to start the car, there will be no shaking. Also, at times, when i turn the key, there seems to be an additional second or two hesitation before the car does anything, then it will start. Also, a few days ago, i turned the key, and it made the sound it makes when it wants to turn over, but it took like 6 attempts for it to do so. Also, at times, it will hesitate on the freeway. I took the car in and replaced the spark plugs. I did this due to the mileage really. It still is acting this way and has once displayed a PO300 code, a random misfire. I took it to the repair shop, they cleared the code and said they could not duplicate the problem and when they hooked up the car to a diagnostic, it seemed fine. BUT it still does this, but only at times. The car seems to have an attitude and will act well at the repair shop, but not with me. Are there spark plug wires on this car or are the spark plugs plugged right into the coils? What do you think may be going on here??? Thanks.

This is a direct fire ignition system, coils over the plugs. You have never had any code but P0300 Random miss show up? Also do you routinely run the gas tank lower than 1/8 tank, if so that can be the cause.

You should definitely replace the fuel filter though this probably won't fix your hesitation. It wouldn't hurt to replace the spark plugs this is usually the culprit on these engine. I have the same engine in a '99 caravan and found the for some reason the spark plugs on cylinder 3 and 4 loosen up after one year and cause a misfire between 45 and 50 mph under load (when mildly accelerating).

SOURCE: 96 firebird is having problems,

Have you ran a diagnotic check to see what codes are coming up?
Throwing parts at the problem will get expensive. It will also ruin other parts (Like your catalytic converter), when your engine is misfiring and not running properly. Your vehicle is an OBDII system, fix the problems in the order they appear (then clear, run and recheck)...meaning, one problem can cause another and so on. Fixing one problem may correct the other ones too.
You may get lucky with the shotgun approach, but usually not.
Run a diagnostic test, at least you'll know where to start looking for the problem.

SOURCE: multiple cylinder misfire detected

Thank you for all the information. I don't see how you made it worse unless the injectors were not installed correctly. If you remove them you are suppose to replace the o-ring on each of them and oil them (the o-rings) before installing them. I would check the air filter and the CAT (for excessive back pressure. Also check the rest of the exhaust for damage. If a pipe is kinked or flattened it would need repair. Also GM's are known for some issues with there e-vap systems. You may want to check it out. The gas cap, charcoal canister, vacuum lines. Well good luck.

SOURCE: random misfire/rough idle/stall

Low fuel pressure due to faulty fuel pump will give misfire codes due to fuel starving conditions. Have fuel pressure tested, preferably when running bad.

2006 Cadillac cts is burning gas faster than the normal rate after i got an oil change at jiffy lube 2 weeks ago

I dont think there is a connection between an oil change and the gallons per mile.
With that age car, I suggest a Terra engine clean. It will blow away nine years of gunk from the spark plugs, fuel injectors, cylinders and exhaust. Should give you more power, more miles..

I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring that's been bucking

The best thing you could do is check for codes. Especially since the light has been on for a while. The codes will likely give you some clues as to where to start looking.

The first thing to do is get a compression check done,as you dont say what miles its got im assuming it has a few, so getting this done will confirm that it aint worn out.yet.

Chrysler Sebring 2004 Convertible Bad Battery Charge Problems

I would look at the alternator. I had a grand am that would do that to me, even with a brand new battery. The alternator output wasn't able to run the vehicle and charge the battery. Alternators are picky things, especially being in Canada (which I assume from the KM), the hot and cold cycles don't play nicely with the brushes and core. I'd have the alternator checked and replaced if needed.

Oil light flashing, last oil change 7 wks ago

I belive they didn't reset the oil light timer. I belive the sequence is 1. key on (not acc with engine off)
2. step on the brake pedal 5 times within 10 seconds. 3. key off. 4. start car. 5. check if the light went out. you may have to try it a few times to get it.

I bought my 2005 sebring a year ago and it is due for smog check.I put 3,000 miles on the 2.7 litre engine in the last year and it now has 36,000 miles.A couple months ago the malfunction yellow light came...

the 2.7l has a sludge problem. This could cause the stalling and loss of power. There's a few fixes, the new water pump (which is part of the problem) doesn't dump coolant into the oil pan. Easy way to check is to simply drop the oil pan.
