Question about 2002 Ford F350 Super Duty DRW Reg. Cab

1 Answer

From start up on my f350 super duty when I put it in gear for the forward gears I have to rev the motor to get it to engage so I can go but reverse will go right in to gear just fine and the forward gears only hesitate at start up and then it will switch gears just fine then I park it for a few minutes then go out and start it and it will do it again.

If the transmission fluid is not low the filter may be clogged. If changing the filter does not help an internal valve may be sticking and leaking

Reverse it took a few seconds to engage into gear to move when it moved I put it in drive and went forward then a small thumb occur and the motor stopped what

Does it kill the motor when you try to put it in gear now(fwd or rev)? Sounds like the torque converter clutch. Transmission part. Usually at about 150,000 miles. Hope that helps.

I have a 2001 nissan xterra - will not engage in reverse gear - any solutions?

Does it seem to bog down when in reverse as you accelerate? If so the trans maybe stuck in forward gear (mechanical problem) resulting in both forward & rev being applied.

Will not go into reverse

Either the bracket on the side of the tranny that holds your gear selector cable is loose or out of adjustment. Simple fix really..
