This could be one of many issues (or more than one!). When you say runs for 5 minutes, does it just stall? overheats? Probably not the crank sensor since when they go they go and engine will not run. If you can get it to Autozone or borow a diagnostic tool may be able to find an avenue to persue. My first thought is fuel from what you describe, fuel filter, fuel pump, injectors.

Testimonial: "thanks for the imput. car acts up after a few miles or minutes. It seems to be running out of gas or has bad gas? just put in new gas at least a quarter of a tank? Where is the fuel pump? In the gas tank? Expensive too fix? stoped the water leak...not leaking from water pump...was leaking from hose connector that screws into top of motor block, right behind alternater.attached from top of water pump housing to engine.short hose, less than 6in. in length? when first start or when motor is still cold...vehicle will idle on its own at @ 10,000 rpm? Warms up...hits 10,000rpm and quickly sputters, back fires and dies? I do not have to wait at all...starts right up...idles for a short time, than dies? I need to keep engine revved up and slam it into gear to get started. punch down on the gas and it starts missing? cleans itself out, good pick up until you have to stop for red light or stop sign. looses power and dies? restarts immediately, but have to pump gas pedal in neutral then slam it into drive? Almost been rear ended twice? thanks again for your expertice. hope further discription of problem helps to further diagnose this problem?"

Oh my. It idles at 10,000 rpm? I hope you mean 1000. That too is a little high. May be a vacuum line too which will lean out the motor. From the sounds of it is probably a large vacuum line like the one to the brake master cylinder. When it is idleing do you hear a sucking sound? That would be my next guess. Good luck
