How many quarts of transmission fluid does an 2007 grand prix hold

Depending on how much of the fluid is actually removed the fluid capacities are as follows:
Bottom Pan Removed : 7.4qtComplete Overhaul: 10.0 qtDry: 13.4qt
Since some transmission fluid is generally trapped inside the transmission during service, the actual number will depend on how much of the transmission was serviced.

I just recently puchased a 1991 Pontiac Grand Prix. I am very unfamiliar with this make and model. I need to know what type of oil the car uses. Where the transmission fluid goes and where the power...

the TPS is most likely at fault if stalling out
the power steering fluid will have a cap stating for power steering fluid only
10 w 30 is the grade of engine oil
the trans fluid should have a small tee handle in a long tube that pulls straight out to fill with a funnel

How much transmission fluid does a 1999 Grand Prix once I drop the pan and change the filter? Also, what kind of transmission fliud works best? Thanks

Transmission fluid does not have to deal with nearly the number of problems engine oil has to, with heat, water, acids, grit, etc., so it is not at all critical. In the old days, Ford always had a different fluid because they used different material for seals. But these days the all the fluids sold are great.

As to how much, that depends. There will only be about 4 quarts in the pan and transmission, but the total is more than twice that, and it can very anywhere in between, depending on how much fluid drains down from the torque convertor. It has a little flap that is supposed to stop drainage, but it always leaks down slowly anyhow. So there is never any set amount. You just have to estimate how much came out, put that much in to start, and keep checking and adding, with the engine running.

Power steering

the power steering pump is mounted on the front of the motor, the pump has a lid which you unscrew to add fluid. if you cant find the pump follow the serpentine belt until it goes around the pump (large Pulley) with about a four or so inch long neck. Make sure you buy the fluid made for your vehicle.
