Question about 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix

1 Answer

My grand prix jerks around 80 km/h. Also it jerks when trying to accelerate at times. This problem is intermittent at the moment. This problem started after the mechanic worked on an oil pan leak, front passenger bushing's, and repairing an air leak underneath the car. One of the pipes for the muffler near the catalytic converter is where the problem was.

Did he weld it? If so, did he disconnect the battery?

I had a 1990 Cadilac Devile that jerked around 35 mph and it was missing on a cylinder because the fuel injector was not firing.

I wonder if this is happening to yours.

The solution, in my case, was another ecm because the old ecm was not firing the fuel injector.

You can check this by using a fuel injector tester that lights up or by listening to the fuel injectors click with a stethoscope.

2001 Grand Prix SE tranny trouble.

You can't use those two words in the same sentence when talking about transmissions. Best is new (rarely done) next is a rebuild (most times if from a good reliable shop, good but not cheap) then there is the used unit from a scrapyard..cheaper than either, but if it doesn't work, you get to pay r&r as many times as it takes, even if the yard guarantees it. (only way I'd do that is if I owned another identical car that I had driven and knew for sure the unit was good.
