I hope you are spot on with this. I thought this might be the problem because you should read on your volt meter at 13.0 volts or higher. I was getting a reading around 1264-1294 volts. What is your thoughts on this.

The battery light is actually an alternator light indicating damage to the diodes in the alternator or shows a no charge or slow charge condition.

Therefore, change the alternator to get rid of this light and also to charge your battery normally.

Wish you luck on this repair.

Yes. Alternators that are bad cause the low voltage of below 13.2 V when something inside is burnt out like the diodes for instance. The alternator will still charge, but not enough to keep your battery in top condition.

Hope I helped you find the answer to your question. Good evening.

I have seen issues like this on other Honda's and the problem turned out to be the ignition starter switch. Do this, jumper power directly to the starter solenoid trigger wire and see if the engine cranks.

Lately my accord (98) has been cutting off while driving

Sorry I guess this should have been posted as a solution. Here goes again...I had the exact same problem. After many test and trials, I changed out my ignition switch last month. "MAGICALLY" No more problems!!!! Everything started working normal again. Problem is that everything in that car goes through the ignition switch. Even the battery charges through it. Anyways, I bought an new one from adavanced discount auto parts for $55 installed it myself. Problem solved. If you want to install yourself here is an awesomely detailed link that really helped me: http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2353017
I hope this helps you the way it did me.

My daughter's Camry did the same thing. Odds are the battery is shot. Pull it out and take it by a parts store to get it tested. Her's showed a bad cell and once a new one was put in, the problem went away.
