Question about 2000 Hyundai Elantra
If the cable is off the spool,then the window regulator will have to be replaced,and if you know this,you are most of the way in the door,and removing all screws and brads will allow the regulator to come out,be careful with your hands the regulator can fold up after removing brads,and cause damage to you fingers.

The same problem happened to me you don't have to replace the regulater pull on the side of drive cable that is coated with a black protective covering while trying to roll down the window with switch it should only take a few hard tugs to push the drive cable back into place if this doesn't work I would just go ahead and replace the regulator
