Question about 2000 Hyundai Elantra

How do I fix my 2000 Hyundai Elantra electric windows that won't roll up? My electric front and rear side windows won't roll up. The drive cable is off the drive spool, and I don't know if it can be put back on. How do I fix this? I know how to get the inside door panels off and get access to the power window drives, but don't know how to proceed from there. Do I have to buy new drives? Where can I get them and how can I get free installation instructions. My driver's side and two rear side windows are not rolling up any longer.

If the cable is off the spool, then the window regulator will have to be replaced, and if you know this, you are most of the way in the door, and removing all screws and brads will allow the regulator to come out,be careful with your hands the regulator can fold up after removing brads, and cause damage to you fingers.

Thanks for the feedback!!! I don't have an owners manual with instructions for replacing the window regulators, and I don't know if I can get new regulators for these windows through the Hyundai dealer here. Any ideas where I can get these instructions without buying a manual, and where I can get these regulators on line?

The same problem happened to me you don't have to replace the regulater pull on the side of drive cable that is coated with a black protective covering while trying to roll down the window with switch it should only take a few hard tugs to push the drive cable back into place if this doesn't work I would just go ahead and replace the regulator

2000 hyundai elantra passenger window fell down, electric windows, cable broke and twisted up, how much is a motor for window

Advance will give you the price for yours. You did not indicate if it is the Front passenger or rear so here is a link. You will need the widow regulator with the motor. Trust me, but the unit, don't move your motor to their regulator. It's not worth the trouble.

The rear passenger window will not roll up.

Soundls like your window motor went bad. Could also be window regulator or just a bad wiring conection. Take off door pannel and check the connections and the motor. Hope that helps

You first have to determine if the problem is being caused by an electrical problem or a mechanical problem. To do this, the electrical circuits to the window must be tested or use other clues such as the window motor making noise when the button is pushed to eliminate the electrical circuit. If the electrical circuit is working, then the problem is mechanical and the door will have to be disassembled to find the exact cause (most likely a bad motor or broken window regulator).

Are struts on the front or back of this car?

The struts model (MacPherson Strut),are both in front and back of this car.
2000 - 2006 Hyundai Elantra Shock Absorber and Strut Assembly - Rear, Driver Side, KYB GR-2/EXCEL-G, Twin tube, Strut Assembly. $72
2000 - 2006 Hyundai Elantra Shock Absorber and Strut Assembly - Rear, Passenger Side, KYB GR-2/EXCEL-G, Twin tube, Strut Assembly $68
1996 - 2006 Hyundai Elantra Shock Absorber and Strut Assembly - Front, Driver Side, KYB GR-2/EXCEL-G, Twin tube, Strut Assembly $67
1996 - 2006 Hyundai Elantra Shock Absorber and Strut Assembly - Front, Passenger Side, KYB GR-2/EXCEL-G, Twin tube, Strut Assembly $63
Of course this is only the cartridge, you have to transfer the spring, and the top mount of the existing strut. You need a pair of coil spring compressor to do the job. The basic procedure to replace a strut is:
Remove the top nuts that secure the strut assembly to the frame mount inside the engine compartment. Do not remove the center nut.
Mark the lower strut mounting location on the hub for installation reference. The alignment will be close if the new strut is installed in the same position.
Remove the bolts that hold the strut assembly to the hub.
Remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.
Mark the top mount for installation reference. Using a side mounted spring compressor, compress the spring and remove the top nut and retaining washer. Pull strut assembly out from the bottom of spring.
Slide the new strut assembly up into the spring and reposition the top mount onto the spring in the same position that it was removed. Install the retaining washer and top nut.
Tighten the top nut to the manufacturer's specifications and carefully remove the spring compressor.
Place the strut assembly back into the vehicle.

The front drivers side window on my 2005 Hyundai Elentra was working fine last night i rolled it down on my way to church and it got stuck and will not roll up. It appears to be off the track. Could you...

Sounds like the window regulator has malfunctioned. Best solution: Take your vehicle to an authorized Hyundai dealership and pay the diagnostic fee... they will tell you exactly what the problem is and the cost of parts/labor to fix it... at least this way you'll know what the problem is and what's required to fix it.

2000 Hyundai Elantra driver's power window will not raise

don't know why but the glue gets weak where the plastic pieces attach to the bottom of the window.i've had to fix mine more than once.remove the door panel, then take the nuts lose from the back of the plastic retainers,then-going by the residue left from the old glue mark where the retainers go back-re glue, realine and reinstall.panel removal-philips screw holding the door handle,1 philips screw holding armrest/window controls, two philips screws at front of panel above speaker, then gently pry clips behind the edges of the panel.if the plastic window retainers are beyond repair,i think they have them in the help section of advance/autozone.

2000 Hyundai Elantra, door glass of front driver side is not coming up, door was working till afternoon and suddenly it stopped working. Could you please suggest what to do now.

Most likely the window regulator cables got tangled. That happened on 3 of my windows, but the motor should be fine they usually last quite a while. Electronics are good, but the mechanical part sucks. There are 2 cables one pulls the window up while the other cable winds onto a pulley. The pulley has channels in it that the cables sometime jump out of and get derailed. Replacing the window reg can cost 50 if you're lucky to 100 at Autozone or checker, that doesn't include labor. You can do it yourself, but it's a pain in the ****. Give yourself around 3 hours to do it because you will spend a while getting the window threshold or whatever the hell it is that seals it back into place. Use WD-40 to lube it so that it will slide onto the window. You'll know what I mean if you do it yourself. At the dealer plan on 300 to get it done.
