Question about Honda Accord

2 Answers

Trying to get the main relay out of my 92 accord. Been on my back for a while now and I'm getting a little annoyed! I've removed the cruise control box and then the one nut on the bracket for the relay, it's loose now but there seems to be another bracket for something else over top of the bracket studs for the relay. Not sure how to proceed from here. I tried to pry them off but backed off because I was afraid I was going to wreck something. Do I **** it up and keep prying or am I missing something?

Bolted in from underneath? O.K. I'm a girl I'll need details please. What's bolted in from underneath? The bracket for the main relay is silver and the other bracket over top is black and it looks like it's holding another relay. So is the main relay bolted in or the black one?

These hondas are bad to have the fuses and relays bolted in,not sure of the design on this year, but remove the relay base, what the relays are bolted into, and turn it upside down and look to see if I am correct,,being a girl means nothing,,you have the guts to tackle it,you can do it,if it is not bolted in,then it maybe melted in from electrical heat, but look under the relay box to see if I am correct, this is a relay, and not a fuse, correct?

92 honda accord lx it will start when it is cool outside but when it is hot it will not start. have already replaced distributor, coil, main engine relay switch. Can u tell me what else it could be ?...

I had the same issue happening with my 92 accord lx. I replaced the main relay and the issue was resolved... Was it the relay under the dash and hidden by the cruise control box you replaced? It is located under the drivers side dash, tucked WAY up there behind the cruise control box. This relay controls both the spark delivery AND the fuel pump.

If this IS what you replaced, it is more than likely still an electrical issue since the syptom only occurs when it is hot. This means an electrical connection is expanding and not connecting when it is hot. If the relay was replaced, it is possible the ECU may be having issues.

1992 Honda Accord won't start when hot- main rely?

the relay that you are speaking of would be my primary suspicion. it is called a main relay, they typically run about $50 - $80. these are common for the contacts wearing out and becoming inopperable when hot, and not allowing the fuel pump to power up. good luck!

I need diagrams on the location and removal of 92 honda accord main relay

I don't have a diagram, but it is not hard to locate.... It is under the dash on the DRIVERS side, behind the cruise control box.... it is usually held in on by a small metal bracket with two 10mm nuts. It is easiest to remove the cruise control box first and swing it to the side as the relay may be hidden behind it.... Here is a link to a site that should be helpful. http://techauto.tripod.com/mainrelaydefine.htm

Hi....
The fuel Pump relay (main relay)
On your Honda Accord is located:
Left side of the dash, near left side of the steering column.
On direction under the Instrument cluster.
You will need to remove the Cruise control Module if your car is equipaded with cruise control.
The cruise control module is atached fro 2 screw 10mm.
One on the steering column the other one at the Instrument bracket.
After you remove the cruise computer, you will see the relay.
Is a little bigger that a regular relay colour gray.
And the number on the relay is : RZ0088.

I hope this help on your question.
