LOCATION OF B1S1 SENSOR FOR 2002 AUDI A6 QUATTRO

Referencing oxygen sensor or O2 sensor or 'lambda sensor':

B1S1 is 'bank 1', which is the passenger side cylinder bank on a V6 or V8.

S1 is the 'upper' or 'upstream' sensor, closest to the cylinder.

Can an O2 oxygen sensor effect another sensor and give a false reading?

Check which side of your engine has cylinder #1. That side is bank 1. Bank 2 is the side opposite of bank 1. So bank 2 is not always passenger side. And since you seem to have extra O2 sensors, I would replace the other upstream and see what happens. Also the mass air sensor can give a trouble code issue to the upstream 02 sensors. Good luck. I've struggled thru this myself.

I changed all 8 coil pak & EGR valve and now I'm getting a PO171 system too lean. Was told it may be passenger side upstream 02 sensor. Can you tell me exact where it is located. I've purchased it...

Po171 indicates a lean condition that the o2 recognizes, not necessarily a bad O2, I would focus on looking for a vacuum leak that may have happened while changing coils and egr. But if your still going to change the o2, its on the passenger side on the exhaust pipe just behind the passenger(right) cylinder head.

2000 navigator system too lean

Too Lean on which Bank of the Motor?

To have a lean O2 Code --you could have a rich fuel
condition & the pcm drove the fuel trim lean

Next you could have a vacuum leak-in the intake or exhaust system

Third you could have a failed O2 Sensor

Front or Upstream Oxygen Sensors get replaced at 100,000 miles

The front sensors are on the exhaust pipe between the motor &
the converter.

Will need a long handled flex head O2 Sensor Wrench

Where is the upstream oxygen sensor located on a 2000 navigator

An upstream O2 sensor is located before the catalytic (CAT) converter; check follow diagram location...

Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Engine light comes on and goes off. engine code P0153 O2 sensor CKT- slow response bank 2 sensor 1. I replaced all 4 sensors 4 months ago. Which one is sensor 1 - the top or bottom

Bank 2 means the drivers side, and sensor 1 is the upstream sensor. I believe sensor 1 is located before the cat. converter, and sensor 2 is located after

Exact location of downstream O2 sensor.

Downstream O2 sensor is after (downstream) the catalitic converter on the exhaust pipe. Upstream O2 sensor is after (downstream) the engine exhaust manifold - before (upstream) the catalitic converter. Upstream O2 sensor controls air-to-fuel ratio to yield a small excess oxygen. Downstream O2 sensor assesses the catalitic converter performance.

O2 Sensor

Well, Bank 1 is the passenger side of the vehicle. Are you replacing upstream or downstream 02 sensor?

The upstream is in the exhaust manifold. The downstream is further down in the exhaust pipe. Upstream would be designated by the code HO2S1- B1 and the downstream would be indicated HO2S2-B1.

In either case, you basically unplug the wiring connector, use a 7/8 wrench (or an O2 sensor socket which has a groove cut in the side to allow the wiring to not be pinched) and loosen the sensor and install the new one (with anti-seize on the threads) and plug the connector in.

The upstream sensor is pretty easy- the downstream can be a little more difficult, but is not too bad.

Hope this is helpful!!

Upstream O2 sensor location?

That is the first sensor closest to the engine. The downstream sensor is the one behind the converter.
Good luck.
