What kind of antifreeze caN I USE

Your local parts store will know if you swing in to one. They all offer a universal coolant that can now go in any car. This stuff works good. You can not use the old Green stuff in here.

Air conditioning compressoor leaking oil

I have not seen green fluid from an A/C compressor. There are some sealers which are put into an A/C system to seal leaks and refresh the system. Can not identify a brand, there can be differences in oil but again I am not familiar with colored oil.

Best advice is that the compressor will seize without oil and not work without Freon. Have a technician try to save your compressor by fixing leaks and refilling Freon.

How do I locate a leak that lets antifreeze and oil mix inside the oil pan?

Most likely a head gasket. The coolant is forced into the oil chambers and mixes. This too leaks into the exhaust gases and burns off as you describe. You usually get oil in the coolant reservoir. This can be checked with a test strip available at automotive supply store. It measures the acidity in the coolant.

You need to file a lawsuit against the dealer and the shop. They ARE taking advantage of you. Document everything that's costed you in sequential order and take both of them to small claims court (since it's under $10k)

Neon green fluid leaked under car

Possible fluorescent dye injected into the coolant, engine oil or a/c system to trace a leak.

or....... antifreeze.

Dab a little on your tongue , if it tastes sweet it is antifreeze..(.a little drop on your tongue wont hurt you.)

If so..possible coolant pump leak.

Advice on heater /airconditioning system 2002 grand cheroke. leaking between firewall underneath glove box around foam rubber seal

is it leaking clear water or oily green antifreeze? clear water is the condensation from the a/c system leaking out where it shouldn't. the tube leading from the case to the engine compartment could be clogged, leaves and stuff have a way of finding themselves in there. could need the rubber grommet replaced, i believe there was a TSB around this model year for that very thing.
if its green oil antifreeze, your heater core is leaking. the dash needs to be removed for this fix

I have been leaking coolant and I do not know where it is going.. when I stop the car and walk around to the front,I smell antifreeze but see nothing leaking,, I also had to put some of the old green...

check heater core lines seems like they are dripping and hitting the exhaust, but check all hoses ,no mixing orange antifreeze and green is not going to hurt your engine but the orange is longer lasting then the green mixing them changes that by a little.

My antifreeze light came on so I pulled into a gas station and bought some universal antifreeze green in color now that I'm home my husband says I should have bought the red stuff. What is the proper color...

The Orange antifreeze called GM Dexi cool, (red to your husband LOL). It's ok you put the green antifreeze in. The difference is the Green antifreeze has a of 1 year or 30,000 miles and the Orange has a life expectancy of 5 years or 100,000 miles. Being your Lumina is 12 years old and if the Orange antifreeze has never been flushed out, most likely crystals have formed in the water jackets and passageways through out the cooling system. The crystals can be flushed out with Preston radiator flush, but will take a few flushes to ensure that most of the crystals are out. Once flushed out, replace the antifreeze with the GM Dexi cool 50/50 mix water/antifreeze. Too much water will freeze and can crack the engine block, radiator, or heater core. To much Antifreeze will gel up causing the coolant to flow slower and then the engine tends to over heat. Note, it's a good time to replace the thermostat and spend the extra money for the fail safe thermostat. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to answer any more questions.

My 95 jeep cherokee is overheating and is leaking antifreeze

Hi Oscar

First: If you have pets, keep them away from the puddle. Antifreeze can kill them. Use sawdust, kitty litter, whatever to soak it up.

Did you see where it was leaking from?

If the shop you mentioned were the ones that replaced it, I'd give them a call, tell them what happened, that you want it TOWED back to their shop to have it done right. Any damage caused by the over heat will be their responsibility too.

Document everything, Dates, times , who talked to, Whether or not your new radiator looks new (or spray painted)

Something isn't right.

Antifreeze drip on drivers side inside cab of 2000 Audi A6 2.7T

leaking heater core or hose that feeds it. look for hoses that pass thru the firewall to passenger compartment. Most times the hose is clamped to a pipe at the firewall so you may just need a hose
