The charging post is located inside the fender on the passenger side between the fenders plastic liner and the metal fender, really up there and hard to see, u will need to almost feel for the charging port, u need a recharge kit, this comes with a can of R134 and a single gage, when that gage goes into the green the system is charged, this is going to be really hard to do on the ground

The low pressure is under the wing passenger side ,i would advise you let a garage do this as you do need a special machine to empty the gas vacumn ,check for leaks then refill to the correct weight of gas .these machines expensive but they do the job properly. To regas from a weekend mechanic can of gas you need to start engine then turn on the AC ,then connect the can to the low pressure side which is the smaller of the two connections and allow the compressor to draw the gas in .Now the problem here is that people put to much gas in which overloads the system causing the compressor to be hard to turn so the engine idle doesnt work .So be warned which is why i paid 3000euros for the correct machine also these gas canisters are in the process of being banned here as they are too dangerous

2001 Ford Focus recharge ac?

You charge it at the smaller of the two AC lines from the compressor using a pressure gage, when the low side pressure is at 28-32 PSI the system is charged, I think you are overcharging the system which loads up the engine and causes it to slow down. CHECK THE LOW SIDE PRESSURE!

Imtermittent fault with Ford Focus air conditioning

Sounds like a leak. If you've had to recharge the system every year, you're losing refrigerant. If you've added refrigerant on your own, you may have overcharged the system. The best way to find out is to get a refrigerant pressure gauge and check the pressure. A reading between 30-40 psi is in the normal range. Below 30 will require a recharge, above will require releasing refrigerant.

Would like to recharge my air conditioning on my 2001 nissian maxima that has 117,000 on it blows hot air when air conditioning is turned on.

You will need R134a, and a filler hose. Charge the system on the low pressure side, it should have a blue cap on the charge point.
Your filler hose will only fit the low pressure side, just in case the cap has been removed.

Can't find the fitting to recharge the air conditioner

  • The low-pressure service gauge port valve is located on the suction accumulator.
  • The high-pressure service gauge port valve is located on the LH top of the condenser core.

  • To access the low pressure port you have to remove the right front wheel and inner fender.

134A is the freon you need and to find the port follow the lines from the condensor back toward the engine and you should find the connection for the charge hose and make sure you have gloves and safety glasses on and try www.autozone.com to see if they have your car listed for diagrams pictures and step by step instructions if your car is not listed then try your local library they have all the car manuals and even copy them for you
