Take a small thin wire (like a paperclip) straighten it out and, put a 1/8" 90 degree bend in the end of the wire. Slide the wire into the keyway next to the side of the broken key; when you reach the pointed end of the broken key turn the paperclip 1/4 turn clockwise to grab the end of the broken key then: pull the wire out bringing the key with it.

I lost the keys to my 97 sunfire so I busted out the ignition now when I crank it it runs for a few seconds and shuts back off and the anti theft light flashes how can I fix this problemail myself?

My info shows you have passlock security system. The key is just a mechanical key, the key doesn't have a pellet or transponder. A locksmith should have been able to make you a new key and it should have worked fine. It's the tumbler that communicates with passlock, not the key.
Since you busted it, I doubt I can help. You need a new lock cylinder, probably a new passlock sensor, then you need to program it.

Ignition locked will not turn

easiest way to handle this problem is as you turn the key turn the steering wheel back and forth not real hard bust firm and try and turn the key foward and back at the same time. usually what happens is the little detente inside the column gets stuck just right and stops the tumbler from moving

Need to change ignition out how bad is it to do it

I am assuming you are needing to change out the key lock? It's a little work and you need the tools. It's not bad ifyou have the tools but probably impossible without them.

I lost my keys to my 96 dodge dakota so i tried to forcefully use a screwdriver to start it resulting in a busted ignition i can get it to turn to the point of starting but the starter isnt turning over...

you will have to take the steering wheel off and the steering collum apart to find the rod that actuates the real ignition switch..the thing you stick your key in..is not really the ignition switch....its just a key tumbler..and it would be best that a professional replace the key tumbler..because it is difficult to drill out..i know this isnt what you wanted to hear..but i hope it helps

My mercedes m class' ignition key seems to be expired. any advice for me?

ignition key has no expired date, unless there is electrical problem such as, fuse was busted, poor connection between sensor or control unit or may send your car to authorized shop for diagnose,to prevent replacing wrong part.

Ignition

apparently steering colum lock. next time try turning your steering wheel to the left while turning the key in the ignition. don't stress the ignition. though if it isn't your stearing lock the last thing you want to do is bust up the or in come cases break your key off in there. Try turning the stearing wheel though. 99% of the time thats what it is.
