When i press the accellerator the idle fluctuates up and down

Couple of items can cause this:
manual shift valve, transmission range sensor, idle air control or fuel pressure regulator. Only once I had to replace the ECU.
I would scan for codes first and see what you get.

The warning message appears and the car stalls. So far I have been able to restart after about a minute or so.

The electronic throttle control uses a accellerator pedal position sensor to feed pedal position to the onboard computer. This sensor is built into the gas pedal and is serviced as a complete assembly.
The system is "fly by wire" and has no mechanical linkages or cable.
I suspect the APP Sensor is failing.
Good luck

They could be right. If possible, get an trouble code. That will tell you which sensor is the problem. it could be other sensors too.

Engine runs well, but won't accellerate.

Replace the throttle positions sensor. it tells the computer how to mix the air fuel ratio. when this is not working the comupter dont know what to do to the enigne to give it power.
