Hi,

You actually need special tools to do this which only a Ford dealer would have at the moment.
The airbag system or SRS needs to be disabled before you can remove the steering wheel airbag module.

Sorry mate thats the only option you have.

Thanks

Jason

Remove the steering wheel of a 2013 Toyota corolla

As a general thing on newer models, disconnect negative battery cable, pull the air bag fuse(s) to ensure the air bag doesn't deploy. Remove the air bag by taking out the attaching screws usually on the back side of the wheel. Disconnect the air bag wiring from bag assembly then from steering column, unbolt wiring assembly and remove. Unscrew center hub bolt, then use a wheel puller to remove wheel.

I have a 1995 ford crown victoria lx. Had to remove horn relay due to horn started blowing when I would turn. How can I fix this problem cause I really need my horn

It's usually the contacts in the steering wheel behind the horn and air bag. You will have to remove the air bag to access the horn contacts. Make sure you remove the battery terminals from the battery before working on any air bag system! You may have to pull the steering wheel completely, depending on the setup. You can rent the puller from your local parts store. If you can not adjust the wires/contacts for the horn, you may have to buy a new set. Fairly inexpensive, but they may have to order the part, in which you will have to put everything back together until the part comes in, and then start back over. I was able to access mine in my Crown Victoria by just removing the air bag, hopefully it's the same. Hope this helps!

How do i take the the steering wheel off 99 silverado 2500

Be sure to deactivate the air bag before working on the steering wheel. I just disconnect both battery connections and let it set 15 minutes. Insert a flat tip screwdriver into each slot on the back of the steering wheel and twist slightly to release air bag retaining clips.Don't do this while sitting in the drivers seat, the bag might go off! Pull the bag off, release the small assurance clip then the connector will pull out of the air bag. Set it in the bed, bag side up so the cover can't become a projectile if it goes off. Pull the horn connector out of the steering wheel. Back the large bolt out most of the way on the steering wheel puller . Bolt the puller to the wheel with 2 bolts and screw the large bolt back into the puller. I tap on the wheel as I screw it in.

I need to put in another steering collum and I dont know how to do it.its a 91 ford F150.hope you can help me.I got another one out of the junk yard for 125,00 is that a good price .thanks for helping my...

I'd say $125.00 is a good price for a steering column.

First, have to remove steering wheel (but I don't have instructions for the steering column. For that, maybe try alldata.com, but that will cost):

STEERING Steering Wheel REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Without Air Bag EXCEPT F-SUPER DUTY STRIPPED CHASSIS MODELS AND MOTOR HOME CHASSIS MODELS Fig. 1: Remove the screws from behind the wheel - F-150 model without air bag 88288p12.jpg

Fig. 7: Remove the steering wheel from the shaft 88288p18.jpg
Fig. 8: Correct steering wheel installation 84928058.gif
NOTE: The factory recommends that the front wheels be set in the straight-ahead position and you paint or make chalk marks on the column and steering wheel hub for alignment purposes during installation. Of these two safeguards, it is more important to mark the column so even if the column is moved slightly, the steering wheel can still be repositioned in its original position.
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the one screw from the underside of each steering wheel spoke, and lift the horn switch assembly (steering wheel pad) from the steering wheel. On vehicles equipped with the sport steering wheel option, pry the button cover off with a suitable prytool.
  3. Disconnect the horn switch wires at the connector and remove the switch assembly. On trucks equipped with speed control, squeeze the J-clip ground wire terminal firmly and pull it out of the hole in the steering wheel. Don't pull the wire out without squeezing the clip.
  4. Remove the horn switch assembly.
  5. Remove the steering wheel retaining nut and remove the steering wheel with a puller. WARNING
Never hammer on the wheel or shaft to remove it! Never use a knock-off type puller.
  6. Install the steering wheel in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the shaft nut to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm)

CAUTION
Read the air bag service precautions in Section 6 prior to doing work involving an air bag equipped steering column component. Always wear safety glasses when servicing an air bag vehicle and handling the air bag to avoid possible injury.
  1. Turn the front wheels to the straight-ahead position.
  2. Disconnect the battery-to-starter relay cable for at least one minute to let the air bag back-up power supply discharge.
  3. Remove the air bag module from the steering wheel (refer to Section 6).
  4. Disconnect the horn/speed control wiring from the steering wheel.
  5. Remove the steering wheel retaining bolt.
  6. Install the Differential Bearing Cone Remover/Replacer, No. T77F-4220B1, or equivalent, and remove the steering wheel. Route the contact assembly harnesses through the steering wheel as it is lifted off of the shaft. To install: NOTE: Make sure the front wheels are still in the straight-ahead position prior to installation.
  7. Route the air bag sliding contact wiring through the steering wheel at the 3 o'clock position. Position the steering wheel on the shaft an align the marks. Make sure not to pinch the contact wire. WARNING
Make sure no air gets trapped between the steering wheel and air bag sliding contact.
  8. Install a new steering wheel retaining bolt, then tighten to 23-33 ft. lbs. (31-45 Nm).
  9. Connect the horn/speed control wiring and clip in place. Connect the air bag wire harness. Tighten the module retaining nuts to 35-53 inch lbs. (4-6 Nm). NOTE: When the battery cable has been disconnected, then reconnected, some abnormal driving symptoms may occur for the first 10 miles (16 km) until the PCM re-learns it adaptive strategy.
  10. Connect the battery to starter cable. Verify the air bag warning indicator light on the instrument panel.

Service air bag indicator light on dash stays on

In most cases this problem is caused by the rotating ribbon circuit contact under the steering wheel having a broken filament, the part is known as a clock spring contact, u will need to properly disarm the airbag and remove the steering wheel to access the part. WARNING: Failure to disarm the airbag system can result in an unexpected Airbag deployment and possible serious personnel injury disconnect the battery 30 minutes prior to start of work.

First thing to do is pull the airbag. Before you do this, you should remove the negative battery terminal. To remove the air bag, there are two 8mm bolts that must be removed from the back of the upper steering wheel arms. These are in the wheel at about a 45 degree angle from the steering column (take a look). Once you realize this, you won't be fighting them.
With the bolts out, the airbag can be pulled from the wheel after unhooking the two wires. The white molex has a trigger that needs to be released before it will pull apart. The yellow cable pulls straight out. Set the airbag aside until reassembly time.

Here's what you see after the airbag is out. Now remove the center nut that locks the wheel in place. It takes a 7/8" socket

Now the messy stuff... Time to drill! I held my puller up to the center nut and lined up where I'd drill. Start small with the drill bit as it has a tendency to walk around a little (I think because the aluminum is different thicknesses behind the front flange. Be careful not to drill into the clockspring directly behind the wheel framework. What will help is putting tape around the drill bit at the desired depth to stop at (hold bit with fingers slightly above the clockspring and get a distance to mark with tape).

Thread the side bolts through the puller and thread them into the steering wheel metal. (I had forgotten to remove the nut in this pic had to take it back apart). I used the fine thread bolts that came with my puller which worked well.
Thread the center puller bolt in, but before you go to town, unplug the black wire from the steering wheel cruise and radio buttons from the clockspring. Now you are ready to pull the wheel!
