What is the year and make and model of the car and how many miles are on it. Could you be little bit more specific also. As the car die out. Will a restart again. Are there any check engine lights on. Can you drive the car now or can you not drive the car at all. Thank you.

Is the egr valve covered under gm's 200,000 mile warrentee

You can call GM customer service at 1-800-222-1020 to find out for sure.
I think the original warranty was 5 yrs 100,000 miles for most engine and emission components. There was a law suit on the injectors and that item was extended to 200,000 miles.

2002 Saturn coupe, S series, 1.9 duel overhead cam Pinging when accelerating

Still using the 5w30 oil that the manufacturer recommends.?? If the engine is a "higher" mile engine you need stronger protection. Could also be a need for plugs & wires (mis-fires). When it comes to oil, the average mechanic cannot tell you what 5w30 means. 5 thousandths protection (hot) between mating surfaces (rods & bearings, push rods & lifters). 30 thousands protection (cold) between surfaces. If its an older engine, I recommend a higher viscosity oil. 10w40, for an engine 100,000 -200,000 miles.(the gap between surfaces has to be higher as it ages, right??) If you keep your cars running into the 200,000 - 275,000 mile range, I start to use a 20w50 oil. Try a thicker, higher viscosity oil.

check compression on each cylinder and fuel pressure,I dont know if you have the tools, but for that engine whit 200,000 miles,I think the compression is down,at least you got to have 75 of compression on each cylinder.

I have a 1998 saturn Sl-1. It has about 200,000 miles on it. Is there any hope for passing the smog test. If not about how much should I set aside for repair? How about for my Husband's 2003 Allero?

Sure is. 200,000 isn't a ton of miles on these cars. As long as the maintenance has been kept up and regular items have been changed over the life of the car then you shouldn't have a problem. Sometimes though at this age the catayltic converter may become clogged but this is usually preceded by bogging down under acceleration and other power problems.

Hey Everyone! I'm in the process of considering purchasing a 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe, 2.7L V6? Anything I should strongly be considering before I continue with my Purchase? As I have heard through the...

HI Santa fes are good cars thay just are very touchy when they dont get there fluilds changed. Every 30,000 miles change the coolant and trans fluild. Also the timing belt has to be changed every 60,000 miles or around that. im not saying if you go a mile over bad things are going to happen just keep up on it and it will run forever. I have seeen tham will 200,000 miles on tham and still going strong.
