Question about Chevrolet Silverado

1 Answer

I have 2002 chevy silverado with a 4.8 L engine. The original engine broke a connecting rod and had to be replaced withe the same size engine. The "new" engine is hard to start as it needs to turn over several times before starting.the original engine started as soon as the key was turned. Will the fuel pressure regulator cause this? Should we have taken the fuel pressure regulator from the original engine? I s the fuel pressure regulator calibrated to the fuel pump? I notice a slight change in engine spped when holding a steady speed on the highway. No change in mph is noticeable but a I can see about a 100 rpm change in engine speed and feel it in the accellerator when it changes.

I would start by checking the engine timing it may be slow. Hope this helps.

What are the specs for a 1998 Chevy Cavalier Connecting Rod?

Connecting Rod's are VERY SPECIFIC for each engine. In Addition to getting the Right STROKE, Piston Pin Size, and Crankshaft Size, you need to make sure to get the Correct Bearings for the Crank. If you are not going to remove the Crank from the Engine, your BEST Option is going to be Purchasing a NEW Push Rod.

2002 2500 silverado - 4-wheel drive makes clicking noise some times, mainly when cornering. Now the nose went away, and no 4 wheel drive anymore. 4-wheel drive light is on, but no 4 wheel drive. Vehicle...

well typically is there is a noise when making a turn its caused by a bad cv-joint but if your having problems with the 4 wheel drive i would look at the linkage to the transfer case and make sure there is not to much play or bent or broke rods and stuff.

Change engine in different engine/350 fuel injection, try to find gas line to attach to switch with two tanks lines.

What you have is commonly known as a "dually" (because it has dual rear wheels) Essentially the truck is identical to others of that year except for the rear differential which has "floating" axles (likely a Dana unit). The best manual would be the original chevy shop manual...Otherwise try and find a chilton or motors manual for that year.
I don't quite understand what your question heading means...Are you considering swapping the engine?
