Alternator belt diagram for isuzu bighorn

All above is Bull Sxxxt. Isuzu bighorn Alternator belt only drives water pump (fan) and alternator. Size of belt is 17x1000 and its a tight fit onto pulleys so it makes you think its wrong belt, but trust me its not. As if you get 17x1025 or 17x1050 belt you wont get it tight correctly due to not enough adustment on alternator. To change/adjust the belt very simple. Loosen 3 bolts (14mm socket) on power steering pump (its 2 belts that diving power steering and air con), loosen tensioner on p/s pump. Remove those 2 belt - to get access to alternator belt adjustment bolts. There are 2 bolts you will need to loosen One at the bottom of alternator (14mm socket and 25mm extension bar to get it easier) another one is 12mm on tensioner rail. Than adjust tension by screwing 12mm long bolt that mounted across the tensioner rail until you get tension correct. Correct tension is about 68kg. But i do it just to get it nicely tight without too much of sag. REMEMBER DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN the belt as you will crush berings on water pump or alternator.

HOW TO INSTALL ALTERNATOR BELT DIAGRAM

ALTERNATOR/WATER PUMP DRIVE BELT(courtesy of autozone)

On most of the 1981-88 model year engines covered in this information, the alternator/water pump drive belt is tensioned by a screw type tensioner, which makes precise tension adjustment easy.

  1. On 1981-87 models, loosen the locknut, located on the locking screw or lockbolt-located in a slotted portion of the outboard alternator mounting bracket.
  2. On 1988 models, loosen the T-bolt, located in the center of the disc shaped portion of the outboard alternator bracket.
  3. Tighten or loosen the drive belt tensioning bolt. This bolt is tightened to increase belt tension and loosened to decrease it.
  4. When the belt tension is correct, tighten the lockbolt.

Where are the tensioners for each belt on a 1968 cadillac deville

I do not think that the 68 models had tensioners, except that each belt was tensioned by sliding the accessory out on a bracket tensioning the belt around the accessory. I think that the fan belt went around the water pump and the AIR pump and the engine pully assembly. See diagram at: http://autorepair.about.com/library/illustrations/bl441lib.htm I do not think that they started putting the serpentine belt with the tensioners untill the 70s

How to adjust de belt to grand cherokee 8 cilinders 4.7

  1. Step 1 Find the belt tensioner pulley. The tensioner pulley is generally between the crankshaft and a component toward the top of the hood area.
  2. Step 2 Check the belt routing so you know how to replace the belt. You may be able to find a belt routing diagram on a decal on the fan shroud or in support documentation. Otherwise, make you own sketch for reference.
  3. Step 3 Rotate the belt tensioner pulley, using the wrench, to and relieve tension on the belt.
  4. Step 4 Slip off the old belt and slowly release the tensioner pulley.
  5. Step 5 Use your belt routing diagram to put the new belt onto all of the pulleys. Pay close attention to the water pump pulley, as incorrect routing can cause the water pump to run backwards and overheat.
  6. Step 6 Make sure the belt is correctly routed and seated on all pulleys. Rotate the tensioner again to allow for the belt to slip onto all pulleys and then release the tensioner again to regain correct tension on the belt.

The part that allows you to adjust the tension on the belt that runs the alternator and water pump flew off my 85 dodge aries while driving down the free way, what do I need to ask for at the parts store?...

Any auto parts store should be able to get this belt tensioner and the belt for you. Tensioners and belts vary in price so expect $40 to $ 90 to pay for the two of them

Installing accessory belt for 1990 cadi sedan deville

Ewww.. when the belt shredded, it may have ripped off parts, like additional tensioners. Try buying a service manual for your specific car, and look to make sure of the pathing, and components where the belt is supposed to run. It may laso have loosened other components that act as tensioners, such as A/C compressor, smog pumps, or power steering pumps. Check to see if all these are tight. If you can slide the component along the belt axis, that component will need to be pulled to tighten the belt, and then tightened down to maintain tension.
