You have a defective alternator, that what is most likely causing the flickering light. A voltage output test will not reveal this.

Can you install a new high pressure switch on a 1996 Lincoln without losing the freon charge? Is there a Schrader valve under the swith?

the switch reads directly into the gas line and any valve would defeat the purpose of having a switch there
take it to an accredited ac specialist shop

Air popping sound above motor for 2003 Lincoln town car

Check the vacuum lines. Spray all the vacuum lines , connections, intake manifold areas carb cleaner with the engine running. The idea is that where the vacuum leak is, the engine vacuum will inhale the starting fluid into the engine and you will hear a definite change in engine RPM. Its a cheap and easy way to find a vacuum leak.

Ac converted to r134 system just charged when i

You have a check valve,in a vacuum hose ,that is bad or a vacuum line that is sucked together,or has a hole in it under the hood, there might be a vacuum reservoir that may have a hole in it,it holds vacuum for the ac heat control doors, look under the hood.

Disconnect the negative battery cable for 30 seconds and then replace it,it will reset the ac system ,but freon it up,this is the cause for the ac to shut down most likely.
