Question about 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. The drop down door for my front overhead console does not drop down any longer. It looks like it is crooked. This is where my sunglasses are kept and I need to access it. Usually it takes the touch of a fingertip to drop it down, but it is now stuck and does look like it is crooked. Do I need to get a new one or have it repaired and if I need a new one is it easy to buy one and repair yourself?
There is a little plastic bracket inside, that also has a metal spring that is of poor design. Try tapping the cover to release in frequent intervals, this should cause the door to fall. Once the door is open, inspect the spring and lubricate the edges and spring contacts with WD 40 that is applied to a clean rag or cotton swab. This should help. I have the same problem with my 2007 Grand Hemi.
