The solenoid mounted on the starter is shorted out. It can be replaced separetely or it will come on a rebuilt starter as well

It could also be the battery. My battery was showing green and the truck ran fine after it was push started. When your truck cranks to start is the biggest use of the amperage in your battery. If there is not enough "kick" it will not start but everything else may seem and work fine.

Neutral safety switch on the clutch pedal may be going out. Its a $15 fix. It tells the computer if the clutch is engaged. If it goes out its like trying to start with out pushing in the clutch, wont turn over at all. Hope this helps.

Doesnt start just does click click and battery is 100% charged

Is your battery free of any corrosion? If not, it will keep the cables from making a good solid connection with the battery. When cleaning the battery cables and terminals, wear eye protection, gloves and a dust mask.

I had a problem with my starter solenoid my truck was not starting. i have a 1996 ford ranger i bought a new one the truck started a few times and then it stopped. what is my problem.

You should have your battery tested & make sure that the terminals are cleaned & well protected wth grease once charged fully. Since you crossed/jumped the solenoid & didn't get it to start until jumping the battery (providing extra voltage), that rules out the solenoid and the ignition switch. Sometimes a battery will test full without a load but will not provide the voltage to the solenoid to actually complete the circuit, thus the clicking sound. If the battery is strong, and the starter bad, the solenoid will click solidly once, passing full voltage to the starter that will either turn, hum, or do nothing. good luck

I have power but my 1990 ford ranger clicks loudly and wont turn

Starter could be stuck..
If you are SURE you battery is fully charged with no dead cells..
Try --
(takes 2 peopl) -
Turn the key like you are trying to start it.
At the SAME time - smack the starter with a small hammer not too too hard..
Let me know what happens..
