Have the dealer read it. 39 doesn't sound right, they're usually more digits

could be a wheel speed sensor.

How can I be sure if my PCM is bad???

I would try disconnecting battery again. Disconnect both cables and touch them together for a few seconds. This will reset all modules. Wierd that you had so many codes after just disconnecting battery. Sometimes very hard to tell if ecm is bad.

It's usually the sensor inside the wheel hub or the wiring harness to the brake controller. The service traction light will set a trouble code. If your mechanic is stumped, authorize him to call a GM tech support line. The call is $50, but the GM tech support can help him figure out what's wrong.

2006 chevy impala traction control

Reduced power is a problem with electronic throttle contol . drive by wire . Do you know what this is ? Taking the vehicle an having it hooked up to diagnostic tool an checking for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes is always a first step when trying to find the root cause of any trouble light ! And not auto zone , pep boys , or advance auto parts . Thier diagnostic tool will not check codes in all system control modules .

TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYS ON

Is the ABS light on too? These are inextricably linked systems, so you might want to run a diagnostic computer on the vehicle to pull up any fault codes, as one system can affect the other, and faults with the traction control aren't always with the traction control circuit.

ABS-traction control check and service

I'll start with the code reader. Most simple readers will only read engine codes. You need a professional scan tool that does everything to access the body computer data.
It could be a wheel sensor which the ABS system uses, or one of the other components in the ABS system.

Warning light on ,code set's in the control module for traction control - EBCM - electronic brake control module . Having the vehicle checked for DTC'S - diagnostic trouble code's will point to diagnostic step's to find the problem .

Unfortunately, is either a faulty ECM or with the ECM wiring. Check the connectors at the ECM with the negative battery cable disconnected. Are there any other DTCs?

It seems that my transmission slips once in a while, like it wants to go into reverse, doesn't happen when traction control is off, transmission oil is clean, and isn't burning

It is probably not the transmission. It is most likely the traction control shutting the engie down. It is designed to do this if wheel slip is detected by the traction control system. If it is doing this under normal driving conditions (i.e. normal speed, dry pavement, no erratic acceleration, etc.) then the traction control system may be malfunctioning. This can be caused by several things, but the most common is a defective/malfunctioning wheel speed sensor that makes the computer "think" that a wheel is slipping when it clearly is not. A way to verify that this is the case, turn your traction control back on and drive the way you normally do. When the problem occurs, pay attention to the "TRAC" light on your dash and see if it is lighting up when the problem occurs. If it does, then the problem is definately being caused by your traction control system.

A FULL scan of your Powertrain Control Module (PCM), Antilock Brake System (ABS) module, Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) module and your Body Control Module (BCM) should be performed to see if it is setting any fault codes. Sometimes the BCM or IPC will report a network communications problem or a speed sensor problem when the other modules show "No Codes Present". Please note that this is NOT something that can be done for "free" by your local auto parts store. These types of codes are not output to a generic OBD code reader.

The traction light only shows when it is turned off. If the traction control wasn't work, the van would show a code aka engine light would come on. Tracation Control only works at speeds below 35 mph.
