This make and model has no crash switch for the fuel pump, you may just have a defective fuel pump here.

I have a 97 vw jetta gt. Changed stereo out and theres an extra wiring harness. Lost stock stereo but now it wont start. Hooked scanner to it and mass air flow sensor popped up so I replaced that and still...

absolutely no idea ,my mind is a blank here ,jetta ?' so thats the passat here although their is a jetta as well but it doesnt look like this picture i can see, right appliance of logic here the fuel pump is controlled by the ECU but this in turn is controlled by immobilisor ?? if you have a fault here then it may not be switching the relay for the fuel pump on for the initial start so check for power to the pump relay when trying to start and if need be run a feed wire to the pump direct or the relay Now if it starts then you have some idea as to what the problem could be but the big but here is whats causing it ?? you will have to check with a wiring diagram if this vehicle has a sensor on the fuel rail for the fuel pressure which it should have and if this sensor is stuck on the max position then the ECU is being told that it has pressure to start but it hasnt ,i cannot read the OBDII on our europeon cars as it doesnt appear till about 2003 onwards when it was made compulsory from 2005 so i test everything with a automotive multimeter ,This i think is your main problem but i have had faulty
ECUs before now with a microprocessor playing up and it doesnt read the immobilisor feed .But this is rare to be honest but? i have had this so keep a open mind but check the sensor first ,Also the mass air flow meter if the sensor reads ok as you could have a dondg multiplug connection here as well but it should still start on this older vehicle .

pull the multi plug connectors off the coil pack and check the connections ,and then rub the pins with a soft lead pencil and see what happens
