ALL CYLINDER MUST BE WITHIN 5% OF THE HIGHEST READING, THE COMPRESSION SHOULD BE AROUND 165-170 PSI, SO IF THE HIGHEST CYLINDER IS 165 PSI THEN ANY CYLIMNDER THAT IS 5% LOWER THAN THAT READING HAS A PROBLEM.

When doing a compression test on a 1988 toyota pickup 3.0 v6 is the vehicle supposed to be running or not

Usually you do not need a vehicle running for a compression test, you can usually just crank the engine and get a fair number. There are a few exceptions to this, like motorcycles with easy start compression releases, but they wouldn't apply to your pickup.

Grand vitara v6 1999

The cylinder compression should be between 100 and 150 psi. The main thing to look for is that all cylinders are within 10 or 15 percent of each other.

1996 toyota t100 cylinders 1 3 and 5 misfire

The 3.4 V6 engine uses direct ignition which means a coil sits on top of each spark plug. So I doubt it is the coils. Could be a wiring problem I suppose.
The engine computer fires the coils based on crank and cam sensors. If they were faulty the computer should set codes for them.
It could be an injector problem but I doubt it.
Low fuel pressure to one side is a possibility. So is a vac leak like the power brake booster or the EGR valve.
Something going on with the cam would cause a low compression problem on one bank.

98 honda accord v6 only has 90 psi compression

90 psi compression is the minumun for gas engine to ignite, you have low compression what is the compression next to it? The compression on Honda V6 is 200psi. you can have a valve problem a blown head gasket, Also make sure your compression gauge is accurate by using another compression gauge

Wut number range shood i hav for agood compression test on the cylinders of my 1999 s10 4.3 liter v6?

Normal compression will be between 185 to 205.
Minimum compression is 180
Lowest compression reading should not be less than 70 percent of your highest compression reading. None of the compression readings should be less than 100 psi.

Need to know the compression for a 3.1 Liter V6 engine (1996 Grand Prix)

It will vary too much between gauges to give you a definitive answer, probably between 150 and 175. The key thing you should be looking for is consistency. Crank the engine for the same amount of time for each cylinder, about 3 seconds. The readings should all be very close to each other, within about 15%.

Poor gas mileage

if it is a fuel injected engine, try putting in a bottle of fuel injector cleaner to remove any sludge that may be in the injectors.Check the PCV valve too. it is located on the valve cover with a hose . It should blow air one way and not the other. if it blows both ways. it is damaged. it is supposed to be air tight one way.if that does not work, do a cylinder compression test. For that you need a compression guage which can be bought at any autoparts store.Check how much compression your engine needs to have if it is a V6 or V8 or 4 cylinder. You did not specify. If it is below normal for your particular engine, the rings may be wearing down or the rod bearings.
