The airbag system doesn't lend itself to DIY troubleshooting and they can be accidentally deployed if untrained techs work on it.
You didn't mention make and model of your vehicle which might have given you a better response to your question. It is possible that the on-board computer has a stored error code that can tell you the source of the problem. If you are near a chain auto parts store, they will generally scan your computer for error codes' call them first to confirm.

There is a fault in your Air Bag system. Either a Trigger sensor is not registering or the system has detected a problem with your air bag that would effect how it operated.

Air bag warning light permanently on on the dash board

  • The Air Bag Warning light on your dashboard functions just link a check engine light does. When it comes on and stays on there is a issue and the only way to know is to get it Airbag Control Module scanned by a VAG com scanner.
  • I don't know if Auto Zone can scan this but it is worth a try as they are free. If they don't then you will have to go to a repair shop and have it scanned. Once you get it scanned you will know what is causing the Air Bag Warning light to stay on. Then you can post it hear and I can assist you further. There is really know way to know until it is scanned.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Hi, Please help me find air bag on/off button in the Lexus RX 330 2004 model, because passenger air bag light is always switched on. Two driver front air bags were damaged and we changed them with new...

make sure that you don't have a bunch of stuff on the passenger seat. these vehicals have a scale built in the seat to turn it on. if it stays on you may have a problem with the seat but will need a professional scanner to properly diagnos the system.

Remove the negative battery cable for about 25 seconds to see if it will reset,if it does not, then the air bag module is bad,Rate if this was at all helpful, thank you.

Air bag warning light is on

Hi,
BMWs usually have a peculiar problem with unnecessary warning lights especially as they get older in use. I don't think this is of any hazard except that you need to check the fuse box in the bonnet that has to do with electrical connections.

Cheers

SRS Air Bag System Warning Light

I really have to advise you to visit a dealer, whenever your airbag light comes on, it could indicate a computer problem, and can possibly be dangerous. Sometimes an airbag can deploy for no good reason, and i'm sure you know how frightening that could be. You should atleast get someone to hook it up to a diagnostic machine. Thank you, and sorry I couldn't tell you more.

Air Bag Light

Would seem strange that there would be no codes present if the light is constantly on. While the light is the air bags are disabled, so they will not deploy in an accident. I recommend taking it to a Dodge dealer for diagnosis and repair. If cost is an issue, tell them you just want a code test and advise on possible causes. They may have seen the problem before, and will usually be the quickest at diagnosis and repair.
