Check fuses 11 15A, 13 20A and 16 15A, they are all related to the power outlets even if they are labeled for another accesory.

Let me know how it goes. Good Luck!!

Most likely it is your fuse, check yur fuse panel. Check your manual where fuse is. It should me marked as cigar, or cig or aux. I am sure it is justnthe fuse the blew. Happens all the time. Hope this helps, thanks mike.

Bought a new battery and alternator,it is still not charging, battery light is still on,relay seems fine so what to check next

You will need to check and see if you are getting voltage to the votlage regulator wire on the alternator , also there should be a charging system fuse , check to see if it is blown ? Sometimes if a vehicle has been jump started it can blow the charging circuit fuse or if its been accidentaly jumped backwards can vlow the fuse as well ! Is the replacement alternator a remanufactured unit ? Sometimes these are bad right out of the box ?

I try to charge my cell phone and it doesn't charge. The lighter does not light up either

check fuse #47 in the fuse box under the on the drivers side near the windshield. you will see two rows of fuses on in the back and one in the front. locate the row of all small fuses next to the relays. The fuse there are #'s 43-52.. fuse 46 is amber 40A, fuse 47&48 are blue 15A. check there first as that is the most likely cause for the cigar lighter not to work. If the fuse is good then the lighter will probably need replacing.

My cigarette lighter 1996 mercury grand marquis

Your thought that the end of something fell into the lighter fried something is likely true. I can't imagine that the wire could be fried and the fuse is still good. check to see if the fuse you checked was the right one. If it was and it is good, a wire on the back of the receptacle may have come lose. The end that fell into the receptacle, did it get hot or damaged? That could be a clue as to if the receptacle was shorted when the end fell into it or if not, then look for a lose connection.

I keep purchasing new cell phone chargers for my car but none work in the cigarette lighter nor the 12 volt. my ipod charger for the car also does not work, but each cord lights up when plugged in to my...

i would take a voltmeter to the far back and the sides to see how much voltage it's drawing. Needs to be 12 volts. If you get less than 10.5 volts then the light will illuminate yet wont charge. could indicate an electrical problem with a lower than normal voltage all over the entire car....kinda like a warning sign. could also be a bad battery or even a faulty alternator... hope this helps..

Cigarette Lighter Coming on but power not strong enough to charge anything

the two problems that you posted could be connected somehow by the alternator not charging because of the belt issue. so if you have a low battery, the cigarette lighter would have a low voltage also.

then on the ipod issue, the memory of the radio could have been lost due to removal of battery cables or the battery really went down on its voltage. just re-configure your radio to accept the ipod music.

tnx 4 using fixya,
