Hello
This hose goes up next to the air cleaner housing there should be a breather cap on the end of it,,, this is the vent for the frunt axle,,, keeps watter out when your in mud/snow,,,,, if the hose is broke you can go to the parts store and buy a 3 foot chenk of rubber hose run it from the diff housing up to the air cleaner airea,,,, you can use a cpl tystraps to secure the hose to the engine comparmint.
Let me know if i can help more!

the diff switch, There are a couple of things u can check on the diff (rear) there are pipes (rubber pipes going onto the diff) looks like two ,see if they are not perished and if they are in there is also a switch on the diff (there is on the left hand side if you lay under the back (head first ( to the front))see if it makes contact or maybe pulled out and then there are relays or something in the passenger side.

Trouble starting engine

I had a similar problem on my 03 SportTrac. It would start, but the gradually stall, losing rpms until it died. If i kept the rpms up with the throttle, it was fine and was ok driving...only died at idle. It turns out it was a leak in a vaccuum hose elbow. It is very common in older fords with this type of engine. From the front of the engine, look at front and left side of the engine block. There is a small plastic vaccuum line the runs from the front of the engine block just below the upper engine coolant hoses, alongside the passenger side of the block and into the rear. The elbows in the line are rubber and tend to split.

Where is the orfice tube on a 2002 ford taurus 3.0l

If you are talking oil and or trans then those tubes are located to the left and right rear of the engine as you face the front of the engine, Trans is to the left rear and oil to the front or right side of the engine, Keep in mind that if you have a front wheel drive engine then the front of that engine is facing the passengers side wheel well or the right front tire of the car.

you have a vacumn actuator on the passenger side front axle tube that engages your front axle when put in four wheel drive. those are notorious for not working

How to change my front differential seal and bearing ? passenger side. I bought a new wheel bearing because of a humming sound on passenger side and doing so saw leaking seal and maybe the humming was...

That will be a Huge job. The whole front diff must come out of the car and the case will need to be taken apart to even gain acess to the carrier side bearings.
The hub bearing is where the wheel bolts up is that maybe what you are talking about?
Also the axle seal isn't that bad to do you need to remove the cv shaft then it's just a simple remove the seal and install the new one.
But all of these jobs will be big ones.

The transmission on my 1996 Ford explorer has intermittnly not shifting into the next hiher gear. Sounds like it is revving upp but no increase in speed. When i let off the gas it shifts. Yesterday I...

Sounds like the the black rubber line and plug you found up front is the breather tube for the front differential the plug for the rear end should be on the drivers side of the vehicle like if you crawl under it right in front of the rear tire the plug is on the front side of your rear end it should take a 3/8 ratchet to take the plug out.The tranny issue could be needing to change the vacuum modulator and a tranny filter, fluid change.

Does the1999 jeep cherokee have a plug to check fliud in the rear in? if so where is it?

Yes it does have a plug to check level it will be one of two places a rubber plug on the back of the diff. plate towards the top or it will be on the passenger side of the vehicle up towards the top on the front side of the diff right above what looks like a metal fin should take a 3/8ths drive rachet to remove.

Windshield washer fluid hose is leaking behind front right wheel

I had the same problem. Reservoir would drain for no reason and I later found that the water was soaking the passenger side carpet and filling the wire channel under the doors. Tracked the problem to a barbed fitting behind the passenger side kick panel, just below the dash. The fitting connects the tubing coming through the firewall from the reservoir to the rear wiper/washer. The hose had come loose from the fitting (possibly due to freezing). I re-installed the tubing onto the the fitting and it has been fine ever since.

Timing belt replacement 1997 lexus lx 450: when?

well don , if this is a 4wd , actually even if it wasn't i show it to have locking diff(s) , if you have 4wd i show you to have a switch and a light somewhere on dash display indicating if it is locked in or not . , if you look at the passenger side of the rear differential you might see some electronical gizmo attached to it . i recently worked on a lx470 , it was awesome , i cracked the woodgrain cover around the power window switch , ouch , it cost $500 just for that little piece of woodgrain , lexus is very proud of their parts , lol , enjoy that vehicle . i would sure appreciate a FIX YA vote . thank you .
