Engine turns over but will not start. sometimes it chugs, or acts like it is dieseling. when it does start it runs fine.

Without seeing it and witnessing the problem or being able to look at an ECU diagnostic code, my first thought and this is only a guess, would be to suspect water in the fuel line or somehow getting into the combustion chamber. Has the engine ever overheated on you? If it has, then one possibility would be a blown head gasket, but if so then I would also suspect and look for additional symptoms, such as the engine oil appearing milky-looking or looking at the radiator fluid/engine coolant and seeing droplets of oil floating on the water. Are you periodically having to add either oil or water but otherwise see no apparent leaks? Either symptom is indicative of a blown head gasket (or a cracked cylinder head) and both symptoms equate to a major repair expense (over $1000). I would first check for water in the fuel line and if that can be 100% ruled out then I would pull all the spark plugs out and run a compression check on each cylinder. How many miles are on it? Per your owner's manual the car was due to have the spark plugs replaced at 90,000 miles. Was this done? (If you bought it used with over 90k on it, it's pretty safe to assume that the plugs were not changed). Sorry I can't be more specific, but your problem could be due to several possibilities, Hopefully you know an honest mechanic who can help you. (avoid the ones who advertise). Good luck!

When are you do for an oil change

The old standard, which I still go by is every 3,000 miles or 3 months whichever comes first. Some oil manufacturers say 6,000 miles. Best place to look if you are uncomfortable is your owner's manual. 3,000 miles is a good rule of thumb.

After how many miles do you change spark plugs in 08 avenger?

Somewhere around 100,000.
Your owner's manual will tell you, but all cars today are easily getting 100K on their plugs.
Be advised, tune-up clinics will disagree, largely due to the fact they must sell tune-ups to stay in business.
Also, a sure way to tell is: Your spark plugs will tell you when they are ready to change.
They will start to misfire, or your engine will begin to be "sluggish". I'm getting 150K on most of my cars plugs.
Be blessed.

My chevy has about 98000 miles. When is tune up recommended.what is involved in the tune up?

what engine? The fuel filter is in the fuel tank, Spark plugs should be replaced, throttle body cleaned, and the truck generally checked over, battery , belts, brakes, tires ect. Spark plugs, trans fluid, filter, transfer case fluid change, are all due at 100k. You should have the 100K service done. Of course they base that on if you have been following the service schedule. Your owners manual will list all things that are due.

What would be the best spark plug to buy for an 05 Equinox with 60,000 miles on it and what would the gap be?

!st let me say your engine is not due a set of plugs until 100,000 miles, and to change them any sooner is a waste of money.

If you still wish to replace the plugs use ACDelco Spark Plugs, here is the part number and gap.

ACDELCO Part # 41101 [Iridium]
SPARK PLUG GAP .060"

At how many miles do i change the sparkplugs and which are recomended

you should check your owners manual for manufacturer recomendations. If you do not have 1 then call or stop by you local dealership and talk to the service manager.

now personally I like the 50000 mile interval and prefer AC plugs.

2002 Dodge Stratus R/T Spark Plugs

Tom,
The spark plugs for that vehicle is Champions. Not anything fancy, just a resistor copper core plugs. DO NOT INSTALL DOUBLE OR SINGLE PLATINUM PLUGS. No bosch, no splitfire, nothing but the champion plug.

ANy other plug and you will start have random misfire codes and other "weird little problems".

I have been a shop owner for years and I tell you this because i have fixed weild little problems just by installing the correct plug. ]
You should change the plugs every 30K miles as well. Look in your owners manual and it should tell you your service schedule
Good luck

I have a 2002 3.5RL with 167,000 miles. I had the 100,000 and 125,000 mile services performed by the dealer and am running fine. I expect to run it to at least 200,000 miles.

Change spark plugs

Hi Sandy,
I did a search for 2004 Nissan Quest spark plug change and saw this link. It looks like you have to take it in to the dealer/shop or have a knowledgeable friend.

I have a 2004 SE and just reached 100K, so I'll have to look into this myself. Good luck to you and me both!
