I would check the fuel pump relay
It is,,,Right behind the battery under the hood. Pull off the black cover with two turn clips and it should be the second relay if you're looking at the car.

Where do I spray starter fluid in an 05 chrysler pacifica..ran out of gas and hoping it will start with the spray..did put gas in

Remove the air intake from the air filter container to the throttle body. Use only a quick shot of starting fluid. Can you hear the fuel pump run? Power cycling the key should get fuel flowing and is safer than starting fluid.

Won't start new motor

Is it carved or efi??If efi do this::locate your throttle body, pull the air intake hose loose from the throttle body, spray starting fluid or carb cleaner into the throttle body opening, push the hose back onto the throttle body then try to start the car.If it starts & runs for a few seconds then dies, you've got a No Fuel problem. If it doesn't start at all, you've got a No Spark problem. If its a no fuel issue, turn the key on & listen for the fuel pump priming sound. If you don't hear it,check for a blown fuel pump fuse, defective fuel pump relay,a defective computer power relay or a tripped inertia switch. If they're OK,disconnect the harness at the fuel pump, turn the key on and use a voltmeter to test for battery voltage. If voltage is present, the pump is bad.If voltage isn't present, but its present at the fuel pump relay harness, there's most likely a short/open in the wiring harness between the FP relay & pump. You didn't list your vehicle info,so I'm unsure of which type ignition you've got.
Most no starts on a new engine are caused by a ground wire you forgot to connect, wiring harness not plugged in or a timing issue.

loosen fuel lines at throttle body when turning key to on possion , careful not to spill gas all over engine, do you hear fuel pump running and try to put at least 4-5 gallions of fuel, you could try a (LITTLE ) shot of starting fluid ?good luck hope this helps.

Car will turn over but not start. is is the fuel pump? miascheffey@comcast.net

if you spray starting fluid in the iar intake or throttle body and it starts for a few seconds, it's probably the pump.

Also, can you hear the fuel pump humm in the tank for 5 seconds when you turn the key to ON? That would mean the pump at least runs.

report back.

tey spraying sarting fluid in the throttle body and see if it starts. If yes, the fuel pump is likely bad. Can you hear the pump run for 5 seconds in the tank when you turn the key to ON.

My car was driving just fine when I was driving on the highway. Then my car stop running and it won't start now. But I cant hear my fuel pump when I turn the key to on. Do u think it could be a fuel...

If you don't hear the fuel pump when you turn the key on, and usually this can be heard, then the fuel pump may be frozen or bad.

Check this by putting a pressure gauge on the fuel rail of the fuel injectors and seeing if it goes up to say 40 psi or so.

If you don't have a pressure gauge for the fuel line, then spray some starting fluid into the intake of the engine at the throttle body, and if the car starts for a few seconds, then dies, the problem is a fuel delivery problem.

Good luck on this repair.

Starts but does not stay running, dies.

Hi, The problem you are experiencing is associated with insufficient fuel supply which can be as a result of a clogged gas line, faulty fuel filter, fuel pump or spark plugs,
Here is the solution to the problem,
1.check the spark plugs to see if they are wet/soaked.
2.Turn the key in the "run" position and listen for the fuel pump. IF you don't hear it, open the door to the fuel cap and have someone else cycle the key-don't crank it. The pump should hum. IF it doesn't, proceed with the following:Access the throttle body. spray some starting fluid or other combustible liquid of a similiar nature in it breifly while someone cranks the motor. If it seems to want to turn over and run, pulse the starting fluid into the throttle bore enough to keep it running... or not.
If it runs, you are lacking fuel. If it doesn't make a difference, it may be compression.
If you heard the pump run, then still follow the procedure with the starting fluid, until you can see fuel getting into the throttle bore when cranking.

Thanks for using fixya.

Ran out of gas. vehicle started, ran, drove home,

the fuel pump runs for 5 seconds when you turn key to ON. It runs all the time whie cranking and after engine starts.

Spray some starting fluid into throttle body & see if it starts then. If yes, pump may be bad. Can you hear pump run in fuel tank?

Won't start. turning, but won't fire.

If you think its fuel, spray some starter fluid inthe throttle body. If it fires up, you have a fuel problem, otherwise, check your spark plug wires, distributor cap and rotor. Also, check your fuses.
