Your alternator is starting to go out, or the drive belt could be some what loose, you still have some time if it's the alternator before you have to replace it, (gives you time till pay day),but when the light stay on, needs to be change out or your car will die out, due to no elec, power, and will run only till your battery drains.

Sounds like you may have a defective alternator/ voltage regulatro. Best to have tghis tested and repaired before you have any further complications while driving especially at night, take the vehicle to Auto Zone or the like and they will test the charging system for free advising you of there finds, it can even be somethinmg as simple as a loose or worn alternator/serpentine belt.

Why do I have an intermittent problem with ABS and power steering lights?

Bad or loose intermittent wire connections to and from sensors. Some unauthorised mechanic has been working on the car? Take it back and talk to the service manager, or the shop owner.

Battery drains when car is on. Verified it is not

Sure sounds like a bad alternator to me-how did you verify the alt is okay? It should be putting out around 13.5 volts. Let engine idle-remove positive battery cable-if engine dies immediately, it IS the alternator.

If the alternator only puts out about 12/13 volts, the car's voltage consumption could be exceeding that; hence, intermittent charge/battery light.

The battery has 12.6 volts. The battery/charge light will come on if your car's voltage requirements exceed that. (Alternator pulley not spinning fast enough?) Loose alternator belt slipping could also cause this symptom.

Alternators CAN go inoperative intermittently.

Hope this helps.

Battery light comes on intermittantly while driving I had the battery tested and alternator everything was fine???Is it safe??

You have an intermitt issue. Test battery voltage when light is on. More than likely alternator (also check the belt that drives it) or poor battery connection (must be clean and tight).

2002 Ford Excursion battery light come on intermittently

Remove power to all aftermarket components, if you know how to use a multi-meter connect to power source inside vehicle.. Drive normal, if voltage drops below 12v while driving, it is faulty alternator. If bat light comes on and voltage is above 12v the plug on the alternator might be correded and throwing faulty light, or bad ground in gauge cluster...
