If you look under the dash on the drivers side up by the e brake pedal there is a ground that mounts to the body here it sounds like it is loose and grounding threw the e brake lever.
Let me know if i can help more!

Break lights won't go off

Hi there?
The brake light switch is faulty or is NOT secured. When the brake pedal is released it pushes the pin on the brake switch to switch the lights off. If the pin is not getting pushed in proparly then the lights stay on. check the switch. Good luck................

Why wont my brake light turn off... they are on all the time

You most likely have a faulty stop light switch. I have provided you with a couple of pictures. The first one in black and white is where you will find the switch and the second one is a picture of what your switch should look like but may not be what is in the car but you will get the idea. What happens is when you press the brake pedal a little button on the switch opens and when it opens it completes an electrical circuit and turns the brake lights on. when you let off the brake pedal the pedal comes back up and pushes that button back in to close the circuit. it is most likeley stuck open and not pushing back in when the pedal goes back up. When you see it you will understand better. I hope this helps you and good luck.

My tailkights are not working at all. My Park in the car is stuck and won;t come down with motor started.

turn engine off. Turn key to OFF position, (no lights on dash lit). Step on brake, pull shift lever to neutral. start car, put in drive and go. this is emergency bypass.

When the key is ON, the shift lock soneoid is engaged and won't release till the brake is applied. Since you don't have brake lights, it means the solenoid won't unlock.
check for a blown fuse or a bad brake switch on the brake pedal.

OFF is the first click clockwise from LOCK. it goes, LOCK, OFF, ON, START.

My brake lights doesn't work unless I press the brake pedal all the way to the floor

HI, it sounds like your brake light switch is out of adjument. You can adjust the switch yourself. You will find the located at the top of the brake pedal. You may need to remove the plastic cover panel under the dash to get your hands up to the switch. The switch has a plunger on it that extends and retracts as the pedal is applied so you will need to push the brake pedal in by pushing on the back of the switch this will move the plunger closer. Now when you release the pedal and apply the brake pedal it will self adjust. This should correct your problem. Happy motoring.

On my 98 intrepid, the trunk lid will be released occasionally when I step on the brake pedal

There is a short in the tail light wires. Have someone hold the brake pedal down, and get the trunk open and access to the wires, now go along the harness and gently wiggle the wires and see if you can get the trunk latch to release.

My Brake lights don't work

2004 Rx8 kept blowing 15amp brake light fuse. Solution: wire going to rear lights was worn and frayed where it feeds through the left trunk lip on left side of trunk. This can be seen when you open the trunk lid. The wire routes by the trunk lid hinge. If the support connectors come loose, the wires are crunched by the hinge or lid. Re-splice, insulate, zip-tie, replace fuse and replace any blown bulbs.

My trunk for a 2000 Jetta will not open. The noise it makes while opening comes on, but it does not open. I have tried using the key, but it will not open. Please help, as I have to change a brake light,...

There is a plastic part in the linkage from the electric solinoid to the trunk release. The key activates the same solinoid but if you turn the key with more force it will activate the trunk release using a mechanical hook-up. If you remove the carpet covering from the inside of the trunk lid behind the key hole you will see the broken part.
