The problem is the coolant level sensor. What happens is that dirt buildup and sediment gets on the sensor and it is not able to detect liquid. It is located on the over flow fill tank or in the passengers side of the radiator about 4 inches down on the inside of the plastic tank.If it is on the over flow then just tap on the bottom of the tank where the sensor is located and usually the light will go off.If it is in the radiator just replace the sensor and the light will go off.Do not do this when the system is hot.Hope this helps.Good luck.

The sensor that detects if the coolant is at a low level may be bad. It will be in the bottom of the coolant overflow tank. Some are screwed into the side or on the bottom.

How about the overflow tank. Some of them have sensors in them.

The best thing to do with most cars is too switch from a lower temp thermostat during the summer to a higher temp one during the winter. Yes, it's work twice a year but it makes things work better. The coolant sensor is close by. Often these "wax pellet" thermostats do not work well and they do wear out. I'd replace it first, because it's cheap.

You can even test yours just by putting it in a pot of water on the stove wtih a mea or candy thermomenter... it should open up near the temp stamped on it.

SOURCE: low coolant light is on but does not overheat and

Those sensors are bad all the time. It is the sensor on the radiator tank. They have fingers on them that trap air bubbles. You can try tapping on it, but that usually breaks it anyways. The fix is to change the coolant level sensor.

Anyways if that helps you any little bit, then feel free to follow me on Twitter. That one is at: twitter.com/acoates23234

Thanks for the vote, and good luck!

SOURCE: low coolant light

When that happens it is usually because the coolant level membrane sensor is faulty.

Repair is not expensive, but must be done by a qualified mechanic.

Regards.

SOURCE: low coolant light is on but does not overheat and

There is a low coolant sensor down alongside the radiator. Either the wire came off or the sensor has failed. Other than the annoyance of the light being on if you keep an eye on the coolant level it will cause no harm.

SOURCE: low coolant light, low oil and check engine light

Most likely it is the sensor, it is located on the radiator near the battery, it will stay off if you unplug it, Check the fuses and relays though just to make sure, oil pressure sensor possibly but again check fuses

The CHECK COOLANT indicator illuminates when the coolant level is low in the coolant recovery reservoir. The low coolant level switch is probably in or on the coolant reservoir !

I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that leaks fluid under the car. Took it to Sport Durst. Told them about the leak and that it sounds like water flowing through the dashboard. My low coolant light was

Put a large piece of light paper under the cars or truck motor area and let it set overnight. In the morning see what color the fluid is. Put your finger in the fluid that has leaked if any is there and see if it feels like water or oil. Coolant could be orange or green depending on the type you use. Coolant can sometimes be confused with transmission fluid. Check the water hoses that go into the dashboard for leaks. Also check for dampness on the passenger side of the front seat on the carpet area. If it is wet it is your heater coil that has a leak. Hope this hopes.
