2000 Nissan Frontier 3.3L VG33E engine. Drove it to the store and when i came out it would not start. I determined the timing belt stripped at the crank gear. I replaced the belt. I am pretty certain that...

Nissan markets its D22 and D40 pickup trucks in North America as the Frontier. A six-cylinder 3.3-liter engine with a double overhead camshaft is standard for the D22 models. The timing belt for this engine keeps the camshafts synchronized with the camshaft, enabling the engine to run smoothly. The timing belt has a limited lifetime, and typically requires replacement after 60,000 miles.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I replaced both head gaskets and have no power, popping noises, and engine stalls out.

P1340 the code definition is camshaft sensor "B" circuit malfunction. If this was "A" then its the camshaft sensor, Your problem may reside in the ion sensor,The purpose of the ion sensing is to measure electrical resistance when they are not firing, This means you need to be sure of the correct sparkplugs P1340 when I see this it means wrong sparkplugs

P0340 - Cam Timing

SYMPTOMS/CONDITIONS
of a mistimed camshaft system (all must apply):
  1. Camshafts have previously been removed from the engine.
  2. Engine runs rough.
  3. Vehicle sets P0340 (camshaft sensor code).
  4. Camshaft sensor has been checked with a known, properly operating camshaft sensor.

CORRECT:
The diagram in the manuals should show the timing marks on both cam gears to be on the blue timing chain links.

NISSAN MURANO 2004 I receive an error on my screen Check Engine & after checking at the garage the problem was P0340 what would it be ?? & how to fix ?? when running on the highway the engine...

the P0340 is a camshaft sensor code, the sensor is located in the front (passengers ) side of the engine, there should be two sensor's one for each camshaft, (front of each head) defective cam sensor's can cause the the problems of stalling and hard starting. I am a Nissan certified tech and replaced a good number of cam sensors in the past, they are quit easy to replace, they are attached by one ten millimeter headed bolt (per sensor) remove the bolt then work the sensor clockwise and counter clockwise while pulling out, there is a o ring seal on the sensor and when installing the new one lightly lube o ring before installing, then install sensor and be sure it fully seated against the mounting surface before installing the bolt or you will break the mounting ear of your new sensor. thanks for using fixya

MY 1998 DODGE NEON WONT START. I WAS TOLD TO REPLACE THE CAM SENSOR AND DID SO. THE COIL WAS CHECKED AND ITS GOOD. WHAT IS THE PROBLEM

I bought one with the same problem, the mechanic chaged: camshaft sensor (it was ok), the coil pack (was ok too), the pcmodule( ok too) the arness (ok) and did not start. I checked timing belt and was ok. but wen I did the compresion test , every cilynder was too low ( 10 30 an 0), my firsth idea was head gasket replecement, and wen was remooving the camshaft sprocket Bingo: the small pin was broken (that means that the camshaft sprocket was not align in time) Had to chage the head an the camshaft both in terrible shape. bad lobes and cam bearings worn out. wen I crancked it start at the first time. PD. the head wasnt craked, the head gasket was good too and the valves ok .

My check engine light is on and I've been told it is the cam sensor, but I can't find one. It's a 2005 nissan altima. Do they have a cam sensor and a crank sensor?

This engine has both. Nissan recommends replacing them at the same time, I think your local Nissan dealer will tell you the same thing. The cam and crank sensors are in the rear of the engine.Looking from the drivers fender find the right rear corner of the valve cover and look straight down the back of the head. the cam sensor is 3-4 inches down from the valve cover gasket surface.the crank sensor is basically straight down from the cam sensor but much harder to see. it is just above the oil pan gasket surface...

A 98 nissan altima i replaced blown head gasket and head i used a older head 2 years older the older head has 2 more bolts for the cams my question is can i still use the same camshafts

Yep, I would use the same camshafts. The engine you used if from a 96. It is a different engine, but if everything is sealed up and mates up ok, then it should work.

Where do i find the camshaft position sensor A on a 1995 plymouth neon

Why are you looking for a cam sensor (cmp). You can test the sensor for any and all diagnostics up above in the harness for the 5v reference signal that allows it to operate properly. You can also check the pulse/signal in the harness as well.

It's either on the front of the head or the back, however, your model, depending on the engine, may have a camshaft synchronizer, in whch case it would appear to take the place of where a distributor would have been. I think the cam sensors on the chryslers are on the front and the crank (ckp) sensor (engine speed sensor according to Chrysler) is in the back down low by the rear of the engine.

What's the problem you're trying to solve? A crank, no start? Surging?
