Most common problem on this cars is ignition switch - electrical part.
But first make sure your battery fully charged and in a good condition.
Check if you get signal from ignition switch to the starter(disconnect small single wire from starter , connect test light to it and hook up test light clamp to the ground , turn key to start position , if test light goes on - switch is ok , starter no good .
If test light stays off - ignition switch is bad , starter is fine.)
Good luck.

Hi...

both may be the reason for not starting.

11.please check the terminals from the battery, wires and all in good order.then check the volt comin to the starter motor if the volts are correct then the problem is with the started motor. please service or replace with the new motor.

2.if no supply is comin to the motor terminla then ther is a problem with the wires.the wire is damaged so no power goes to the motor.

3.if the voltmeter/multimeter reads less reading then the problem is with the battery.the charge is not sufficient enough to start the motor. please recharge or replace the battery if required.

if my information was usefull please vote

Replaced starter not engaging to flywheel to start engine what could be problem

I need year--make--model?
Can you remove flywheel cover, where applicable, maybe you can see if starter motor is kicking out drive-gear to engage flywheel? Check the flywheel teeth.
As far as starter testing, you can usually take the starter motor off, lay it on the ground, hook up jumper cables properly from charged battery to starter motor, at the least, it should kick out the drive gear and spin. I have to talk in generalities because I don't know which vehicle you have?

Make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Two voltage circuits at the starter motor, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other goes hot with key in the start position and is wired through clutch switch, I haven't looked up info on your clutch switch. The starter motor is grounded through engine block. Any testing at starter motor, make sure tranny is out of gear and parking brake is set.
You can check the starter itself, take it off, lay it on the ground, hook up jumper cables properly from battery to starter motor, at the least, it should kick out the drive gear and spin.

Cables connected to kick starter

I am not sure what a kick starter is and what "light at asc" is. I think it would be a good idea to check the starter motor

When starting car sounds like battery was dying then did not start got a jump and started drive home turn off car and nothing no start. Got a new battery still new start got new altenator still no start...

Need more info so we can look up wiring diagram? Dodge is the make, what is year and model? Sometimes when battery voltage is lost, it can cause problems?
If starter motor won't crank the engine, check starter motor wiring circuits. Any testing at starter motor make sure tranny is in park or neutral and parking brake is set. I haven't checked your security system info.
If you think the problem is the starter motor, usually you can take it off, lay it on the ground, hook up jumper cables properly from starter motor to good battery, at the least, it should kick out starter drive gear and spin.

I have a 1995 honda accord and it just wont start , When i turn the key over to start it just wont turn over , i change the fuel pump and the starter is good .. it sounds like its trying to start but...

The contacts in the starter motor solenoid are worn, the clicking that you can hear is the solenoid being pulled in, but not making contact to allow the main battery voltage/current from getting to the starter motor. Their are 2 things you can do to get you out of trouble.

Rock the car back and forward whilst in gear, stop and try again.

Tap the side of the starter motor cover with a piece of wood or soft hammer. This will wiggle the contacts and allow for starting.

These may get the car up and running, but ultimately the contacts will have to be replace.

If you can find the starter motor, the solenoid is the small round or triangle box on top or to the side f the starter motor, usually with two small wires going to it.

My metro wont start at all with a new battery

I have had a similar problem which resulted from a worn starter motor. You say you put in a new battery not just charged the old one right? With my car, the engine would make a single click noise when i tried to start it. that was it. music played lights would go on but no engine. Check with your mechaninc if you think it might be the starter. I dont want you to buy a new one and realize your starter was not the problem

My 00 impala 3.4 doesnt start.i took the starter off and checked it out but its fine. when the key turns the starter spins but wont engage with the motor.i have a brand new battery, all cables are connected...

Does the starter kick out and spin normally out of the car? Have you checked the condition of the flywheel? Ususally the starter doesnt turn until the solenoid kicks the gear out to engage the flywheel. Check if the gear on the starter is bad, it should slip one way, and not the other.
