Question about 1999 Ford F150 Regular Cab

1 Answer

My f150 is cutting off when i stop. the rpms are lower than usual

My f150 will cut on and the rpms will go to about 600 and then drop to 400 and when i rev it up it will be fine then the rpms will drop until it cuts off. It usually idles at 900 rpms and is fine but the past couple days it has been cutting off on me until i drive it for a few minutes and then it is fine. I dont know if its a vacuum leak or what, i really have no idea.

I would check the idle air control valve, also you might have a bad coolant tempuature sensor, I would also check the air filter and repalce the fuel filter, if it hasn't been changed.

On the 02 sebring when the cooling fan or i turn on the air the car idles(rpm) high then back down then stalls out if i dont hit the gas to steady the rpms

run the fault codes as the ecm should compensate for the extra load on the engine when the ac compressor cuts in
there will be a rpm drop of around 150 rpms when it cuts in then it should settle back to normal rpms and when the ac cuts out the rpms will go up and the settle back to normal
anything else indicates a sensor fault.

Truck starts then stalls at 3000 rpms

Sounds to me like you have the choke closing on you. Is it a electric choke on it? If it is closing it will do that. Loosen the screws on the round plastic canister and turn it till the choke flap starts to open farther. Keep adjusting it till it stops closing. There should have been instructions on choke adjustment with the new carb. If not do a search on google for Holley 600 choke adjustment.

My 1997 ford f150 starts fine, but has a high idle while stopped usually about 1200. Sometimes the idle will drop to about 400 and the truck almost stalls. Help?

To be honest no idea with my head under the bonnet and having a play to see whats wrong ,could be anything from a vacumn pipe to faulty sensor .

My 2001 Aurora Idles low. It kind of spudders and pulls a bit as if the engine wants to cut out. It actually Idles around 600 RPMs, very sluggish like not getting fuel or something. Also after a long...

Sounds like a vaccum problem, do you mean lean condition and I don't know what your talking about "piston sensor" there is no such thing, give me the engine code #
Open the hood and listen for a hissing sound, now move your hand over the area where you think the hissing is coming from, slowly feel around vaccum lines, don't get to close to moving parts, if nothing found, shut down thw engine and remove the intake hose to the throttle body (looks like a small carborator,) it will look like a round metal circle, in that section spray carborator cleaner into the IAC (idle air control, it's a small mechined cut out onside the throttle body) the car might be a little hard to start at first, please send me the engine codes.

How many turns in should the throttle screw be on a 1991 f150 with a 351 windsor

I believe that most automatics like 600 RPMs in drive. As far as how many turns that is,you can use the median settings of one to one and one half after the screw makes contact with it's stop.If you don't have a tachometer to set the RPMs use the turn to turn and a half initial setting and readjust while the engine is running in park. You don't want it to lurch into gear because of too high a setting so take it easy.Lots of RPMs won't let you stop on ice,the engine will power right thru the brakes. So find a tachometer and set the curb idle speed according to the specification sticker on your shock tower or radiator support.

Bmw e46 cutting out

I had the same problem a while ago. Changed everything you can imagine, but didn't find the fault.

Turned out it was the MAF sensor. Expensive part if you buy genuine (don't buy one off Ebay!). But, you can get a much cheaper "pattern" part from a reputable parts company (about half the price, and work just the same).

The MAF sensor does NOT throw up a fault unless it fails completely, so don't expect to find one in the ECU.

It's very easy to change out, so you could try the problem by "borrowing" a sensor from somewhere else, just to prove the theory, before buying a new one.
