Question about 1994 Nissan Pickup
1994 4wd Nissan Pickup with 4 cyl runs fine while under an idle. When you step on the gas, it backfires and dies. Disconnected the fuel line on the engine side of the fuel filter and plenty of fuel seems to pumping through the line and through the filter. Not sure what the problem is. I purchased a new fuel pump, but do not want to replace if that is not the problem. Can someone tell me what is wrong with the truck? Any assistance would be appreciated.
Fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator

Testimonial: "Replaced the fuel pump and it is back up and running. Thank you."
When back firing it could be timing off or a spark problem but I would lean more of a spark problem cause if timing is off that much to make it back fire it won't idle

Sounds like timing is off.

here is how you can tell it is the fuel pump. turn your truck off. than have someone turn the ksy into the on position while they do that stand back at the end of the truck where the gas tank is located. when they key is switched to the one position thhe fuel pump should kick on and make a humming noise. if it is the same noise you hear when your ideling than that is you culprit.... my suburban does the same thing.

First from the fuel tank in side the fuel tank there is filter remove the screws on the top where the fuel gauge fitted when you remove gauge you can see fillter that is one sometimes blocked.
Next if you check fuel filter it is ok, but nissan sunny has fuel filter inside the caburator where fitted fuel pipe from the fillter clean that filler.
ather thiing is check your connections any leak or loose.
