Question about Kia Spectra

We are removing the clutch (burnt) and according to the chilton manual it didn't look like it indicated that the engin needed to be removed...but i can't get the tranny to drop...there just isn't enough room to do it...does the engine need to be removed to access the clutch?

What you need to do is drop both engine mounts off the engine, front and back but have a crane attached though or a jack underneath the motor to support it.

Then you will be able to tilt the motor down so that you can drop the transmission/gearbox out.

Important: Make sure that all wiring is not getting stretched when you drop the engine down. Or you will have alot more problems after you put it back together.

Ok, good luck and let me know if you need more information

Did you remove the lower engine mounting member which is quite big and goes from the front to the back of the engine bay.

You also need to remove the lower suspension arm, stabilizer control arms also.

This should give you move then enough room to drop the gearbox out. It can only come out from the bottom.

    Good luck.

You need to move the jack stands. and put them where they should be, on the side chassis rails/or subframes rails just under the passengers and drivers sides.

You shouldn't have jack stands under the front engine mount, too dangerous guy's.

    You need to move them..

Then yo can get to your bottom engine mount.

Ok check that you have all terminals fitted back to the starter solenoid and also check that you have attached the main battery negative lead back on the engine.

If all this is ok then you may have blown a main fuse so check the main fuses in the engine bay area.

Let me know how you get on.

I just bought a 92 Honda at auction and the clutch sticks to the floor. Is there any way I can fix that by myself without having to take it to a mechanic?

What you need to do is bleed your clutch line. Usually, this is accomplished by filling the reservoir full of fluid, and then cracking a small nut at the clutch unit itself (You can find this clutch unit at the end of the clutch line that goes from the reservoir, it is a cylindrical unit with a rod that goes into the transmission). Make sure to fill up your clutch reservoir as you go along, and do not pump the clutch. Bleeding your clutch so that no air comes out of the bleed nut when the fluid comes out will prevent your sticky clutch issue-however, if it does this again, your car is at a prime age to have issues, and you might have to go through and replace parts. May I recommend a Chilton/Haye's manual? They are great for making complicated problems seem easy.

Where is the inline filter located

According to my Chilton manual RWD Oldsmobiles still had carburators in 1986. I didn't remember that. Anyway, the in-line filter will be in the carb. Disconnect the fuel line going into the front of the carb and then remove the large nut. The filter will come out with it. Pay attention to how the filter is placed in there so you get it back in right.

If, by chance you have the diesel engine then the filter is a square box thing mounted above the intake at the back of the engine. Simply remove the fuel lines and replace the filter. Hook the lines back up and check for leaks. Hope this helps.

Need new cluch disk/perscher plate

What is your question exactly? You can go to a local auto parts dealer and order this part (may have in stock); or if you can afford to, have a mechanic do this for you. It's not very hard really, on a honda, you simply pull the transmission away from the engine block, remove the old part(s) and install the new one. Be sure to read all instruction included with the parts, as the clutch pressure place only goes on one way. The clutch kit (which would be best to purchase, although you can purchase each part separately) will come with all the parts you'll need for replacing the clutch unit(s).
Please let me know if you have further questions or need further assistance. I hope that this has answered your question. Also, a repiar manual is available as well at the auto parts stores, and usually sell for around 15-25 dollars depending on which "brand" you purchase. The best that I recommend is the CHILTON repair manual as it's more descriptive in it's instructions.
Again, please let me know if you have further questions, concerns or comments.

We have burnt the clutch out and are wondering how hard it is to put a new one in?

This requires you removing the cv shafts, taking loose the engine/transmission mounts, unbolt the transmission from the engine, removing the transmission, taking the pressure plate and clutch disc off the flywheel on the engine, then putting everything back once the new clutch parts are put back on. Looking a day of work to complete.

Manual transmission clutch will engage

There are two possibilities to consider:
  1. the master cylinder is leaking/by-passing hydraulic fluid
  2. the slave cylinder is leaking/by-passing fluid
You didn't mention a fluid leak, so that would eliminate the obvious cause of a leaking pipe. However, check for leaks around the master cylinder (on the firewall) and at the front of the engine by the clutch itself. This would indicate which of the two might be the problem, If they haven't been replaced in many years, it's probably sensible to replace both at once. The slave cylinder can be replaced without removing the engine. If you have ABS, you'll likely need to loosen/remove the alternator.

Good luck!

How do you replace a audi A6 clutch

A chiltons manual or something similar is your best bet. This is beyond a diagram, allot of steps are needed to remove the clutch inside the transmisson, and allot of parts should be replaced along the way.
