Re: 1992 ford econoline is over heating
Rarely the water pump, unless it leaks. Often the thermostat is the culprit. on the rad, run vehicle, to warm, then turn off enging and feel around on the cooling fins of the rad. Cold = blocked areas. A shop can flow test for you, but at that point, replace rad, they fail and leak.

Check the radiator is it clean and not rusty and has good flow? Look in the front of the Radiator or AC core and see if a bag is blocking it or any caked mud or dirt. Repair what you find. If the radiator is full of rust remove it and have it cleaned by a radiator repair shop or better yet just replace it. Make sure the thermostat is working good, replace it if it has never been replaced. There is also a slight possibility the impellers on the water pump ware rusted off.

If you didn't do a thorough cooling system flush with the radiator replacement last year, then i would say you may have excessive build up of rust, scale and other debris. This will certainly clog up a new radiator quickly. You may still have a restriction. I would do a good flushing, including REVERSE flushing until water runs clear. This should help... Good luck, my friend.
the impellors in the water pump are prone to corrosion, especially if no or incorrect radiator additives have been used .this will cause water to stay in motor & boil whilst the water in the radiator stays cold because it cannot circulate.try flushing radiator ,installing a new thermostat (which is more than likely not opening )& radiator cap, refil with correct additive,.if the car still over heats then you will need to replace the water pump.bugger!!
I suspect the fuel pump has stopped working, check the fuel pressure or listen to the noise it makes by taking off the gas cap and listening for a humming noise when the key is turned on, this will stop after a few seconds.
