Hi

It is common for the center HT lead to break down internallly, without warning. It is best to change all HT leads at the same time to make sure they are all the same age.

Check the condition of the distributor cap too as any cracks or condensation can cause an HT lead to fry itself inside.

Hope this helps your cause.

Fixya expert i have a 1996 gmc sierra c1500 305 5.0 the coil module has 2 blades c8 coil adapters thats right

Your system is pretty basic and easy to troubleshoot. The coil only has 2 connectors. Battery + and the ground signal that comes from the distributor. The + lead should have 12v battery power when the key is turned on and the other wire should get a pulsing ground signal when the engine is turned over. You can test the system with a 12v test light. If you ground the clip end and probe the + wire the light should light bright anytime the key is on and if you clip the light to 12v + and probe the signal wire while the engine is cranking, the light should pulse.

Where is the dist. on 1996 2.3 ford engine ?

Maybe it doesn't have one. If it does you can follow the heavy spark plug wire back to it from any plug. If there r no heavy wires it doesn't have a distributor. The distribution is via the computer.

Where is the ignition coil for a 1997 ford probe

For 2.0 liter see diagram:4e112a4.gif
For a 2.5 liter :
The ignition coil is part of the distributor and is not serviced separately. It steps up the voltage to fire the spark plugs .

Spark plug wires mismatched. 1996 GMC Sonoma Pickup Truck.

Their is no distributor on a this vehicle from the factory. Their are two coil packs loctated underneath the intake manifold. If the coil packs have not been replaced then they will be labled 1-4 in white numbers next to the terminal. The pack lolcated on the lowerside of the ignition module should be 2 / 3 and the top 1 / 4.

93 ford probe no spark, gets gas, checked compression replaced cap

you should check power at each one to verify that they have power, which engine do you have 4 or 6 cyl? the 4cyl the coil is seperate from the distributor and the module is located on the side of the distributor, the 6cyl it is all inside the distributor, but to replace parts without verifing power is not cost effective. The most common ignition failure is the ignition module, but you still need to verify that it receives power.
