Check the clutch fan, may not be coming on after the engine warms up, causing the fan blades to spin too slow thus causing an over heat.
Also check thge water pump, with the engine off check the pump for play in the front shaft bushing by means of prying the fan bade for lateral play and to visually look for coolant dripping out of the front water pump shaft relief hole.

Air pockets possibly or your fan is not kicking on. look for a bleeder valve for the coolant and bleed the system when its running, or leave the radiator cap off and let it run for a while then top off system.

Heat stopped working in 2000 pontiac sunfire

With blower on high and tempature to max heat check to see if you have good air flow in all mode selections (defrost, vent, floor etc.). If so and you still have no heat then check heater core hose going from engine to inside car to heater core with vehicle running and coolant tempature about half on guage. If both hoses are hot and coolant in radiator/overflow bottle is full then hot cold blend door is stuck in cold position. If coolant level is low you will get no heat, check coolant level first.

Says low coolant, but its full, car starts sumtimes, not when hot, would themastat keep it from starting ?

nope. A thermostat just sits inside the water system opening and closing according to the ambient tempature around it. It has nothing to do with starting (on any vehicle that I can think of...). It if is 'overly hot', that may prevent it from starting ...but that leads you to "why is it hot"? (Is the electric fan coming on or if it has a 2nd fan is IT coming on)? Some engines will vaporlock really fast when hot ...more so if it has a carb and all the good ole stuff.

I am not getting any heat in my car and it was warmed up. The tempature gage is rising high. What fluid is low? I also, have a leak of something on the passenger's side coming out of engine, it is clear...

Sounds like it's low on coolant. Check radiator. If low on coolant, heater may not get hot & temp gauge will read hot. The leak could possibly be a coolant leak..? Anti-freeze has a distinct odor when leaking from a hot engine. If that's the case, find the leak and have it repaired.

I HAVE A 1992 HONDA ACCORD, THE WATER IN MY CAR IS BOILING, AND IT IS CAUSING MY CAR TO SMOKE. JUST REPLACED THE HOSES ON MY CAR 2 WEEKS AGO

The water is boiling because your car is overheating. Does your tempature gauge read hot or warm? Make sure your coolant level is full. If it is and your vehicle still overheats check to make sure your cooling fan is coming on (fan by radiator) you can do this by just letting your car run and waiting to hear it come on. It should come on before your tempature gauge reads hot. DO NOT let your car run until the temp gauge reads hot. These cars have aluminum cylinder heads and can warp causing serious problems. The cooling fan should come on for a few minutes then shut off and continue to do this. If it stays on, first make sure your A/C is switched off, second if it does not turn off and your temp continues to rise then you have other problems. You may have a bad thermostat, sticking closed. The water pump could be bad or a blocked radiator. If your coolant level is good, your fans are coming on like they should then you might try have your coolant system flushed. Those are some things you can try that are simple and not expensive. If they don't work then you'll have to start looking at other items in the coolant system. Hope that helps, gl.

How much coolant should I put in my 1998 chevy cavalier 2.2 liter?

First, premix coolant with water to get a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water then just fill your radiator to full and your coolant recovery tank up to the full cold mark (indicator on side of tank) run your car let it reach operating tempature, turn it off let it cool and recheck levels and reservice if necessary. You wouldn't need more than 1 or 1 1/2 gallons of coolant if you premix. Hope that helps.

Tempature gauge goes to high with full coolant.

if no codes a few choices to problem could be fan not working properly/thermostat stuck closed or broke/water pump failure/radiator clogged-outside blocked/bad sensor(usually pops a code)these are the most common good luck

I have a 1995 cadilac elderado that keeps over heating, it has excessive preasure building up we have changed the thermastate, ran a hot wire to the fan so it always runs , changed tempature sending unite...

When the engine is cold, and the radiator is full, starting the engine, does it blow out the radiator? If it does, then a head,or head gasket is blown. If not, bleed the system of air.The engine cooling system might have air that needs to be purged out.

Engine tempature light comes on and tells me to shut off car

If it was Running hot, It could be the Waterpump or the Thermostat. Take the Radiator Cap off and Start the Truck. You should see the Coolant Circulating through the Radiator, If not, The waterpump is Bad. Let Me Know! Please Rate my Solution, I need all the Help that I can Get! Thanks!
