Did you replace the dryer, and the orifice tube?If the orifice tube was not replaced, this is most likely the problem, what are the pressures while it is running, and how much freon is in the system? If the system does not have enough freon it it,it will do this, but if it does, the cycling ac compressor is because of the orifice tube,if the system was not flushed out,and there was a new orifice tube installed ,then it is stopped up again.Let me know something so I can help.

Ok,the orifice tube is most likely the problem,it is in a line,a liquid line,on that year,it is either in the grill,or under the dryer,or near the dryer, there is a swelled place in the line where the line connects to another line,it will be right at the connection, where the two lines come apart, you will need a pair of needle nose pliers to remove it,and to install it.

i replaced the one on my 94 it was in the front on the downside of the condensor....that would make it cycle that bad?..had to get torch to get my old trucks tube out.

Ronny Bennett Sr. Jul 14, 2010

Yes it would, cause the low side would **** down to about 10 or into a vacuum, and turn the cycle switch off, cause there would not be enough pressure to keep the switch on,they are all not that hard to change, but, some times they are.

Change the orifice tube first,if you get it out,you will see,if it is stopped up,then this will be the problem.

Oh yeah,,,orifice tubes are a dime a dozen, they will have one,if not napa has them got a bout 2.00 dollars,,I think the part number is 801301,just ask for one they are cheap, and will not have to order.

Yes,I would change the orifice tube, when it runs long enough to get the low side down around 20 it will cycle.it is colder ac,but it will not perform right, and tear up the ac compressor if it is not replaced.

  • vendo772 Jul 14, 2010

added more freon and it cycles alot less

There will be one part number for the orifice tube

2001-Ford Mustang - AC compressor doesn't work and it has freon. Did jump it out and it worked that way

The system has a high low Freon switch and it may be bad. If so it won't allow the compressor to start and cycle because it believes the system is low on Freon.

Location of the Ac low pressure switch 2007 Mkz

The low pressure switch (also known as the AC compressor switch) will be under the hood, it will be located in the low side AC line from the AC compressor, this is the larger of the two lines from the AC compressor. See picture below, looks like it has a three wire connector. Also what is the AC doing that makes you think this switch is defective? Cycling on and off constantly?

Ac compressor on 92 f350 wont turn on but system is charged

The most common issue with automotive ac not turning on when the system is properly charged is a bad low pressure switch. The easyist way to check is find the switch in the low side line unplug the 2 wires from the back of it and jump the two wires together. If the switch is bad this will turn the ac compressor on, caution should be taken when doing this because if the system is not properly charged and you force it on by jumping the pressure switch you can seriously damage the compressor.

A/C compressor on 95 astro van does not engage at all.

There are a few reasons for the compressor not engaging. Lets start with the most common. low ac gas.A bad clutch on the compressor.Blown fuse.
Let is start with testing for low gas. (134a freon).Locate the dryer. this is on the passenger side of engine compartment. it looks like a tall cylinder, on the top side you will see a switch. unplug switch connector and jump the two terminals in connector with a piece of wire, this is the low pressure or cycling switch. you will be completing the circuit by jumping a wire across the terminals. If the compressor turns on when connectors are jumped then you are low on gas and the system needs recharging.
If the compressor does not urn on then check all fuses, if fuses are good then the next step is to go to compressor and test for power and ground. If you have power and a good ground on the connector to compressor then compressor clutch is bad.A bad clutch will some times blown fuses, so if you replace the fuse because it was blown and it blows again then clutch is bad.
Another test that will help is when you remove the connector from the cycling low pressure switch , test the connector. one wire on the connector should have power when ac is turned on,
Hope this helps let me know what the outcome is. Good day.
I have enclosed a picture of the switch and dryer to help you locate it.If you jump the terminals

I have a 98 blazer that in the morning blows ice cold air. After driving for awhile it will stop blowing cold and if you turn it off wait and turn ot back on it sometimes blows cold again. ANy ideas

I would replace the low pressure AC compressor cycling switch, it may be sticking, it is a fairly common problem. The switch is located in the low side of the AC system hoses or accumulator.

do u have power to the AC compressor clutch cycling switch, this switch is in the low side, either in the larger of the two AC lines or in theround canister called the "Accumulator" under the hood, still think u have lost your charge, this year is prone to AC compressor front shaft seal leaks. below is a picture of the clutch cycling switch.

Radio, lighter, and air conditioner on 92 buick le sabre malfunctioned...radio and lighter won't work at all, air conditioner won't recognize being turned on anything but defrost and defog. Could it be...

Check for a fuse that indicates radio and replace it if it's burnt through or melted or discolored. The Buicks have dash controls that require expensive repairs sometimes to get the temperature controls to work so some people jump around the controls by installing a separate toggle switch that directly turns the AC unit off and on for 92 through 94 Buicks. Any AC shop can install the bypass wires.

AC does not blow cool or cold air. Fan works fine heater works. Filter and fluid levels have been checked.

Does your compressor cycle on and of. It should cycle every five minutes or so. You should see the clutch engaging or at least here it when it does. If not you have one of two problems. A bad compressor(bad clutch, ceased compressor piston, ((or bad cycling switch))) or your system has a leak. Now ac system have a bad habit of just being fickle. The leak could have fformed anywear in the system. Most common places are the shrader valves in the high and low side service ports. these ports are usually located on the alluminium lines or near the compressor. leaks will also commonly form as a result of old and dry o-rings. I would suggest finding your high side port and test bleed it. Do this in an open and well ventilated area. cover your nose and mouth with a wet rag and avoid breathing in any freon that may be expelled from the system. if no white mist comes out then the system is dry or at low pressuer. You can buy a leak detection kit from your local parts store. I hope this info is helpful.
