It is possible that the leak is around the fuel pump or the pipe line. You need to jack up your carr and look carefully underrneath for the corrrect location of the leak when the engine is cranked or running. Please take extreme caution as you are dealing with a volatile fuel. Once you have identified the spot , replace accordingly if it is the pipe or the joint or the sleeve. If necessary check carefully if there is any similar damage to other fuel line , fuel filter areas.
I am sure it wont be difficult to locate the fault. if it is the fuel line replace in total but never never try to use any weld with the fuel in the tank. if so detach tank and do your job after draining.
Hopt this helps? Good day

Why does my 2002 PT Cruiser crank but not start?

Did u check for codes? On pt cruisers the odometer will read out a trouble code if the computer detects a problem with coil, spark etc. If ur checking to see if fuel pump comes on turn ignition on. You shpuld be able to hear fuel pump run for a few seconds and relays click on to start vehicle.

Gasolne smell around the car

Do not start car. Check fuel line at rear and gas fill tube. There is a high pressure gas line which can rust out. Your gas tank can be leaking.

Have someone use a flashlight, not a lightbulb fixture, to inspect the area for leaks. Lightbulbs produce heat and can shatter and spark to ignite the fuel.

2000 fuel lines

There is only one gas line. It will come from the gas tank to the engine compartment, connect to a filter. Another fuel line will leave the filter and go into the engine.

It is extremely dangerous to work with spilling gas. Do not try to start the vehicle as the electronics and spilling gas could easily start a fire and explosion. You need to trace the gas line and determine where it is leaking to fix it.

Leaking intake plenum

I doubt a leaking plenum would cause it not to start. Usually a leaking plenum would cause an air leak and make the engine run too fast.
Any trouble codes stored ? Will it start using carb cleaner spray ?

I started my Malibu in really cold weather. I smelled gas and opened the hood. Gas was running out from somewhere but it was night and i ccouldn't see where thee gas waas running from.A week later I...

Gas would leak out of a cold, hard, rubber fuel line. When the car warms up, the rubber line swells and seals itself up until it gets cold and leaks`again. Find that leaky fuel line asap or you're risking an engine compartment fire every time your car is started, when it's cold out.

I have fuel leaking from the top of the gas tank where the fuel pump sits. Is this something I can fix?

Might be the gasket of the fuel pump, a corroded fuel line or corroded fuel tank. The solution is replace the gasket, the fuel line or fuel tank. If fuel tank starts leaking, and if you plug a hole today, another is doing to appear tomorrow. Replace it with a plastic one. You have to lift up the car and work from underneath.

Strong gas odor

  1. The fuel lines may have a leak: Replace leaking fuel lines and/or fuel line fittings.
  2. The engine may have mechanical problems: Check vacuum lines and fittings for leaks. Check engine compression. Check for broken fittings and mounts.
  3. The fuel pressure regulator may be operating at too high a pressure: Perform fuel pressure test and repair or replace faulty component(s).
  4. The ignition timing may be set wrong: Check and adjust ignition timing.
  5. The fuel injectors may leak: Clean or replace fuel injectors.

Gas smell when starting and small dripage when back up from under engine

It sounds like the return fuel line is leaking. There are two fuel line and one is the high pressure line which goes to the fuel pressure regulator then to the fuel rails. There is then a return line from the fuel rail to the gas tank.
With the amount of fuel leak, it's going to be the return line since it's not that bad compared to the high pressure side. Follow the fuel lines from the drivers side around the steering shaft to the engine. The high side and low side (return) run side by side and you should see it leaking when the engine is running.
Good luck and hope this helps.
